Skytrans Receives AOC to commence ACMI operations

Australia, 1st March 2025:

Skytrans, an Australian-based passenger airline and part of Avia Solutions Group, the ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, has recently received an AOC (Air Operator Certificate) to commence operations with narrow-body aircraft in the region. It marks a key milestone in the airline’s operational capabilities and strategic expansion as it recently welcomed its first Airbus A319 to its fleet.

Forecasts predict that total domestic air passenger travel in Australia will grow by approximately 2.6% per year, expecting to surpass 237 million passengers by 2050. The introduction of the Airbus A319 is specifically aimed at increasing passenger capacity during peak travel seasons in Australia, offering regional carriers the ability to open or test new routes, operate more flights, or replace aircraft that need maintenance without disruption to scheduled flights. ACMI business model helps airlines increase capacity during high-demand seasons, improve profitability by 2-3%, and navigate market fluctuations.

Gytis Gumuliauskas, Managing Director at Skytrans, commented, “The AOC operations specification approval to operate the Airbus A319 is a significant achievement for Skytrans. It will expand our fleet capabilities and provide clients with the opportunity to deliver profit accelerating initiatives through the utilization of additional fleet capacity at crucial peak season periods. The introduction of the new aircraft type is a major step forward and marks a new era of ACMI services in Australia.”

The Airbus A319 will be dedicated to delivering ACMI and charter operations in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, delivering the initial roll-out of the strategy that inspired Avia Solutions Group’s acquisition of Skytrans in March 2024.

The current Skytrans fleet consists of 5 x Dash 8-100s, 5 x Cessna 208B Grand Caravans, and a single Dash 8-300 turboprop aircraft. The integration of the Airbus A319 allows the airline to enter the ACMI market, enhancing its operational capabilities in the region with short-medium haul aircraft.

Skytrans will continue to deliver scheduled RPT (Regular Public Transport) services, whileseeking to become one of the key ACMI operator in the region, with additional passenger aircraft scheduled to join the fleet in 2025 and beyond.
