BAA Training is Opening a New Pilot Training Center in Paris

07.08.2023, Vilnius, Lithuania BAA Training has announced opening of its fourth simulator center, BAA Training France, near Orly Airport in Paris.By the end of the year, two Boeing 737 NG, an A320neo and a Boeing 747-400 simulator will be installed at the facility. It is expected that around over 2000 pilots will be trained there annually. Marijus Ravoitis, CEO of BAA Training, said,“With the opening of the new training center, we aim to create a training environment that adheres to world-class pilot training industry standards. The brand-new facility will support one of our primary and highly valued clients, Transavia France, by offering state-of-the-art equipment and tailored services.” Olivier Mazzucchelli, CEO of Transavia France, commented, “BAA Training and Transavia France share the same DNA: safety first and efficient operations with a fast-growing, entrepreneurial and agile mindset. BAA Training demonstrated its understanding of our needs from day one to support our growing and challenging training plan on B737NG and from Q3 2023 – on A320neo.” Vytautas Ledakas, Managing Director of BAA Training France, adds:“The Paris location provides BAA Training with strategic advantages in terms of market access, industry connections, and the overall appeal to prospective trainees, both corporate customers and individual clients. It is a major aviation hub with multiple airports and is home to numerous airlines and aviation-related organizations. Therefore, we intend to position ourselves well to foster more collaboration and partnerships. Simulator slots are still available for interested customers in the near future.” Currently, a B737 NG full flight simulator and a Real Fire Fighting Trainer (RFFT) are fully operational for training sessions at BAA Training France. A full flight simulator mirroring the wide-body Queen of the Skies, the B747, is undergoing preparatory work before commencing training in August. This marks a significant milestone for BAA Training as it is the first time in its history that a wide-body aircraft replica has been acquired. Furthermore, an A320neo, another B737 NG full flight simulator, an A320/321 Door Trainer, and an A320/321 CEET and slide are scheduled to arrive in the coming months.

Pier Seven Aviation acquires Fly Level, expands Indian student’s prospects in UAE

Sharjah, UAE, 13th July 2023: Sharjah-based Pier Seven Aviation recently announced the acquisition by its parent entity, Aerosiva Holdings Ltd, of FLY LEVEL Aviation Training Organization based in Bucharest, Romania. The Founder and Group Chairman of SkyOne FZE and Aerosiva Holding Limited, Jaideep Mirchandani has expanded the scope of pilot training facilities beyond the UAE,much to the delight of Indian aviation aspirants. This strategic move aims at providing comprehensive training solutions and further solidifies Pier Seven’s position in aviation education. Given that most of Pier Seven’s students are from India, this acquisition will provide fresh opportunities for aviation aspirants in India. Commenting on the acquisition Jaideep Mirchandani said, “We are delighted to welcome Fly Level into our aviation family. This acquisition aligns perfectly with our vision of providing high-quality training and education to aspiring aviation professionals.’ In the last five years, Pier Seven Aviation has successfully conducted 71 batches of A320 Type Rating training approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), training almost 500 India pilots in various courses successfully. The Sharjah-based institute offers complete training solutions from airport pick up upon landing to the final drop at the time of completion – making it the most preferred training institute for Indians in the UAE. Jaideep Mirchandani remarked, “Air travel in India is witnessing unparalleled growth and increasing the demand for pilots and crew. Most of the pilots enrolling with Pier Seven Aviation hail from India and I hope that with this acquisition we provide new horizons for aviation training. With FLY LEVEL’s expertise and reputation, we are confident that together we can offer an even greater range of training programs and continue to shape the future of aviation.” He further added,” I believe that it is crucial to offer tailored, flexible, and highly responsive solutions for pilot training. Now with our acquisition of FLY LEVEL, we are expanding our premier aviation training services beyond pilot training.” Pier Seven Aviation’s state-of-the-art simulators, including A320 FFS, B737 FFS, B747-400 FFS, and A320 FTD, have been approved by EASA and other International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Civil Aviation Authorities.

Azerbaijan Airlines buys an AL172 flight simulator

Le Loroux-Bottereau, France, 13th July, 2023: Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), situated at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, has selected an ALSIM AL172 for its training needs. The ALSIM AL172, built to FAA FTD Level 5 standards and already certified as an AATD, is a replica of a brand-new Cessna 172SP Skyhawk with a real Garmin G1000 NXI and GFC700 autopilot. Ilham Amirov, Vice-President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC said, “The national flag carrier of Azerbaijan, by purchasing the AL172 flight simulator manufactured by ALSIM, will improve the quality of training of AZAL pilots and the effectiveness of their training. Thus, with the help of a flight simulator, airline pilots can improve their skills and gain a profound understanding of flight processes. The state-of-art ALSIM AL172 simulator, which has high-tech equipment and is an exceptional simulation system, will allow the pilots to train in conditions as close as possible to a real-life flight. Equipped with advanced technology, it models all kinds of flight scenarios, including various weather conditions, emergencies, and stressful situations on board. Such training allows pilots to better cope with real-life situations and improve their efficiency. The new ALSIM AL172 simulator will be used not only for basic pilot training but also for skills development and pilot training for more complex flight tasks.” Audrey Jeffroy, ALSIM’s Sales Director, commented, “We are very proud to welcome Azerbaijan Airlines among our customers. We hope this is the beginning of a successful cooperation between Azerbaijan Airlines and ALSIM.”

CPaT Announces New Contract with Alt. Academy

Boeing and CAE collaborate on pilot training

Paris Air Show, 19.06.2023: Boeing and CAE have signed an agreement through which CAE will become a Boeing Authorized Training Provider and the first to offer Boeing’s Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) curriculum. With this arrangement, Boeing and CAE will expand accessibility to high-quality, innovative flight training to commercial aviation customers worldwide. “This partnership expands our competency-based flight-training capacity to better meet the needs of our customers worldwide,” said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO, Boeing Global Services. “By sharing data, leveraging digital capabilities, and providing greater accessibility and affordability, Boeing and CAE are enhancing global aviation safety.” The shift to CBTA methodology in pilot training focuses on developing and evaluating skills, knowledge and behaviors essential for pilots to operate safely and efficiently in a commercial air transport environment. Boeing’s implementation of CBTA leverages digitally advanced tools and fleet operations data to customize training to each individual, and helps pilots efficiently respond to in-flight challenges. The first CAE locations to adopt Boeing’s curriculum will be in India, with expansion anticipated into additional global markets. Boeing is implementing the CBTA curriculum through its global training campuses in Seattle, Miami, London-Gatwick, Shanghai, and Singapore, as well as at customer locations worldwide. “As a Boeing-authorized training provider, CAE will leverage its expertise and network of more than 70 training centres worldwide to bring high-quality training on Boeing aircraft closer to our shared customer base,” said Marc Parent, CAE’s President and CEO. “Boeing and CAE are working together to enhance aviation safety, and this agreement gives more pilots access to the technology and curriculum through which they acquire the skills and knowledge for peak performance in the flight deck.” Boeing and CAE have a long-standing relationship spanning commercial and defense programs. CAE is an integral supplier of Boeing commercial aircraft training devices and provides training and operational support solutions on defence platforms.

Akasa Air expands its Learning and Development Academy

Delhi, 15th May 2023: Akasa Air inaugurated phase two of its training and development centre – Akasa Air Learning Academy (AALA) in Gurugram, to enhance its capabilities in providing hands-on and experiential training to its fast-growing employee base including pilots, cabin crew, engineers and airport services and security personnel. In July 2022, ahead of its commercial launch, Akasa Air had invested in a 14,000sq feet, dedicated Learning Academy, to deliver training on various aspects of safety, service, and quality. This new facility adds another 20,000 sq. ft of world-class, technologically forward, learning capabilities for the modern aviation world. The expansion builds capabilities for Akasa Air to train over 700 future-ready aviation professionals. The state-of-the-art door trainer enables the cabin crew to practice normal and emergency situations in a realistic environment. Hands on operation, practical training, on Type I main door and Type III automatic over wing exit is provided, in addition to the simulation of regular flight phase scenarios such as push back, taxi, cruise, descent and landing along with pre-recorded announcements. The door trainer is equipped to simulate multi-scenario emergency situation management. Making training even more effective with real-world environments, the trainer matches the operational characteristics of the aircraft equipment and is designed to facilitate cabin crew with the highest possible levels of safety and emergency training. A unique approach to learning and development Akasa’s training facilities have been designed with the philosophy of holistic learning and development for the airline’s employees. Both these facilities equip the airline to offer regulatory as well as safety, service and operational training covering service excellence, leadership, communication, departure control system, safety & emergency procedures, first aid, advanced computerised reservation & check-in training. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.
