LEADERSHIP UPDATES IN TEXTRON AVIATION

This is part of the company’s continued investment and commitment towards contributing to the development of general aviation in India and the Asia Pacific region.

Lannie O’Bannion is Textron Aviation’s new senior vice president, Global Sales and Flight Operations. In this new role, Lannie oversees global Commercial Aircraft Sales, Pre-Owned Sales, Pro-Ownership, Flight Operations and Business Development functions. Lannie has more than 25 years of experience with the company, and nearly all of it has been in customer-facing roles. For the past year, he has served as vice president of our North America Customer Service Centers, and prior to that role, he was a leader in sales with more than seven years of international experience.

Lannie replaces Rob Scholl who has moved to head the new eAviation division in Textron as its senior vice-president. eAviation is part of the company’s formalization of its presence in the electric aircraft market and will leverage the work across Textron’s aerospace and defense businesses to develop new opportunities and take advantage of its fixed-wing and rotorcraft expertise in emerging technologies.

Lannie brings an extensive global perspective to the role through his support of the United States, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Canada, and the many worldwide customer relationships he has cultivated in his time at Textron Aviation. He’s dedicated to our collective vision of designing and delivering the best aviation experience for our customers.

At the same time, the company’s Asia Pacific team is sharpened with the appointment of Tony Jones, Vice President, International Sales (APAC) in 2020. Tony is charged with the leadership of the APAC team supporting the company’saircraft and aftermarket sales, including new and preowned Textron Aviation aircraft and aftermarket support in the Asia Pacific region.

“India and Textron Aviation have a long history,our aircraft proving well suited to local conditions. India continues to be an important market as we further enhance our products and customer support experience,” he said.

Tony has extensive experience and is deeply familiar and respected in region’s aviation community. For the past 20 years, he has held a wide range of senior management roles and was involved in the sale and support of Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker products across the Asia Pacific region.

Supporting the APAC team from Delhi, Kulvinder S Reehal is the Regional Sales Director for Citation Jets, Turboprops and Pistons in the India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal markets. Kulvinder brings deep local knowledge, expertise and experience in his customer-facing roles since joining the company in 2008.

Kulvinder was previously General Manager – Logistics at the Cessna Aircraft Company for India. He joined the Cessna Aircraft Company in the Bangalore office as the Senior Manager for Logistics.

Textron Aviation aircraft makes up about 75% of the general aviation market in South Asia as of 01 April 2021.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.
