Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate 2-Day Green Transport Conclave 2026 in New Delhi

New Delhi,April 13, 2026:

The Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) is set to organize a landmark 2-Day Conclave, the Green Transport Conclave: Accelerating Towards the Future of Sustainable and Green Mobility on April 21-22, 2026, at New Delhi supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the conclave will be inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, on April 21st 2026.

India is currently at the centre of a historic energy transformation. As transportation contributes approximately 13-14% of India’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with road transport accounting for over 90% of those emissions this conclave arrives at a critical juncture for the country’s multi-fuel decarbonization strategy.

In the ethanol space, blending in petrol reached the landmark 20% milestone in November 2025, with OMCs blending 1,022.8 crore litres in ESY 2024–25, while the programme has saved Rs.1,06,072 crore in foreign exchange and cut CO₂ emissions by 544 lakh metric tonnes since 2014. On the maritime front, major ports handled approximately 855 million tonnes of cargo in FY25, backed by a Rs.25,000 crore Maritime Development Fund announced in the Union Budget 2025–26. In aviation, India crossed ~239 million passengers in FY 2024–25 and is committed to producing 53 million litres of SAF by 2027 and 290 million litres by 2030. Rounding off this green transition, the nation’s EV sector surpassed 2.45 million units sold in 2025–26, with EVs now accounting for over 8% of the total automobile market together signalling an economy firmly on course toward a cleaner, self-reliant energy future.

The conclave will serve as a high-level platform for exchanging knowledge and highlighting emerging investment opportunities across the green mobility ecosystem, including Automobiles, Railways, Marine, and Aviation. Key discussions will focus on state and central transport models, green transport for cities (EVs and Biofuels), long-distance freight movement, and the application of AI and automation in modern transportation.

According to Shri Sanjay Ganjoo, Director General, IFGE”India must look inward at its own abundant resources to build a sustainable fuel ecosystem for the transport sector. In the true spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, we can significantly lower our dependence on energy imports, create jobs, build industries, and directly support our farmer communities. The Green Transport Conclave will support in identifying India’s own fuel options that can be systematically explored, developed, and utilised for a self-reliant and greener future.

The conclave will feature prominent leaders and policymakers, including Shri Sanjay Bandopadhyaya (IAS Retd), Chairman, IFGE: Green Transport & Mobility Committee, Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO, UP State Transformation Commission (STC), Ms. Niharika Rai, Secretary-cum-Commissioner, Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Ms. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder & CEO, Kinetic Greenand Mr. Atul Mulay, President – Bioenergy, Praj Industries.

The initiative is further supported by organizations such as Praj Industries, All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) and Bus & Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI). The Pioneer, Aviation World and Bharat Energy Compass are the media partners and Build India is the Knowledge Partner for the Green Transport Conclave.
