In the winter of the pandemic, when the world’s fleets stood grounded and the industry’s forecasts read like obituaries, one voice in these very pages called the turnaround — exactly to the month. As Farnborough 2026 gathers under the banner of Sustainability and AI, Aviation World returns to the Grandmaster.
1: THE PREDICTION THAT LANDED
Every publication keeps a private ledger of the things it printed that came true. Ours has an entry that still draws a quiet smile in the newsroom.
At the height of the COVID crisis — when aircraft were parked nose-to-tail in desert boneyards and the most sophisticated forecasting models of the industry could not agree on a recovery year, let alone a quarter — Aviation World sat down with an unusual interviewee: Guruji Shrii Arnav, the Forbes-recognized “Mentor of Mentors,” Father of Astro Gemology, and mentor of Gemstoneuniverse, the world’s leading authority on planetary Gemology.
Asked for his observations on the sector, he did not hedge. The turnaround, he told our readers, would begin in December 2022 or January 2023 — and the resurgence would be led by Asia.
That is precisely what happened. Asia-Pacific reopened, traffic surged, and the recovery unfolded on the timeline he named — a timeline he gave without a terminal of data, without a consultancy behind him, in an era when optimism itself seemed irresponsible. He also welcomed, in the same conversation, the Maharaja’s return home — the Air India story that would go on to anchor the largest aircraft orders in the history of Indian aviation.
Readers of this magazine have seen the association deepen since. II: FROM CERN TO LE BOURGET TO FARNBOROUGH
The road to this Farnborough feature runs through some unexpected coordinates.
In 2025, at a live AMA with research fellowship scientists at CERN — beneath the shadow of the Nataraja that stands on that campus — a young physicist asked him directly: “Guruji, do you need Artificial Intelligence?”
His answer has since travelled far: “No. But the world needs Real Intelligence.”
He followed it with a definition that he offered, characteristically, as a humble suggestion to the dictionaries: Intelligence is knowledge acquisition and its application, keeping in view its implications, while understanding the true ramification.
From CERN he carried that definition to the AI Conference at the 55th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, where leaders of aviation, aerospace, and defence converged — and where he framed the AI revolution in a single image the industry has not forgotten: a cosmic tandava — creation and destruction in one dance — “and we must dance wisely.”
He has not merely philosophized. In August 2025, at dawn in Bangkok, he consecrated and activated the Gemstone Universe GPT on the OpenAI platform — among the first spiritual knowledge systems in the world to be formally embodied in AI, trained exclusively on his verified works, and launched, in his words, because “technology without dharma is like a gemstone without light — lifeless.”
The innovation earned him recognition including the prestigious Nelson Mandela Award for AI innovation in Astro Gemology.
The arc is worth stating plainly, because no one else in the world owns it: in 2023 he published the industry’s most unfashionable caution against AI herd-mentality; in 2025 he stood at CERN and Le Bourget defining what intelligence must mean; by that August he had built on the very platforms he had warned about — on his terms, with dharma as the operating system.

And as this edition goes to print, July 2026 finds him engaged in rare private dialogue at the very frontier of technology — of which the world will hear in due time.
III. THE MAN

THE QUESTION
Farnborough 2026 convenes under a theme the Grandmaster seems to have been walking toward for years: Sustainability and AI in Aviation. The industry that carries humanity across the sky is asking what kind of intelligence should sit beside the pilot, and what kind of conscience should sit beside the engineer.
Those who have followed the Grandmaster’s writings know he rarely explains how he arrives where he arrives.
When pressed, he offers only what he calls an old jungle saying: “When you reach a dead end, do not despair — if you have walked the path correctly, the Phantom finds you.” Known in the inner and elite circles as The Ghost Who Walks, and as per a legendary Shaman who proclaimed “Asia will not let him die’- the guide.” Who appears precisely when the map ends — in every tradition he carries a different name.
In aviation, they call it the runway lights coming on through the fog.

AW: Guruji, the last time you spoke to our readers, you called the recovery to the month. We must ask the question our readers are waiting for: what does the Grandmaster say about the future of aviation and the world?
G: First, my love and respect to every reader of Aviation World and to every soul who keeps the sky safe — from the engineer who torques the last bolt to the controller who never sleeps. Now listen carefully. Aviation is entering its most consequential decade since the jet age.
The next chapter will not be written by the fastest aircraft but by the wisest systems. Intelligence — real intelligence — will decide winners: knowledge acquisition and its application, keeping in view its implications, while understanding the true ramification.
Companies that adopt AI as a servant of human judgment will soar.
Companies that install it as a substitute for human judgment will learn expensive lessons.
The sky forgives many things. It does not forgive arrogance.
AW: The theme of this edition is Sustainability and AI. How does your dharmic framework speak to sustainability?
G: Sustainability is not a compliance department; it is a debt instrument — we are all flying on borrowed sky. The Vedas call the wind Vayu and treat it as a deity, not a resource. When you regard the sky as sacred, efficiency stops being a cost line and becomes a form of worship. Sustainable aviation fuel, lighter airframes, smarter routing — these are the industry’s prayers, whether it knows it or not.
My counsel to every CEO at Farnborough: build as if your grandchildren will audit you. Because they will.

AW: You warned about AI in 2023, defined intelligence at CERN in 2025, then built on the OpenAI platform that same year. Sceptic, definer, builder. What changed?
G: Nothing changed — that is the point. The caution and the creation are the same teaching. In 2023 I said do not board the train of idiots; I never said do not build the railway. Fire burns the kitchen of a careless man and cooks the meal of a mindful one.
When I consecrated our GPT at dawn in Bangkok, it was with mantra, with planetary timing, with dharma as the operating system. Technology without dharma is like a gemstone without light — lifeless. We lit it. That is the whole method: never reject the instrument, sanctify it.
AW: A prediction, Guru. Our readers will hold this page for years, as we held the last one.
G: I will give you the prediction, but first understand the ground beneath it. Three forces are converging on this industry at once. Virtual reality is no longer coming — it is here, and it will ask hard questions of an industry built on physically moving human beings across the earth.
The competition for energy has always existed and always will — but in this decade it becomes the defining challenge, the big, big challenge, shaping every route, every fleet decision, every nation’s aviation ambition. And speed itself is being reborn — the world has already witnessed test flights between major destinations at remarkable, almost unbelievable times.
Now remember what this sector truly is.
It is not just aircraft — it is livelihoods. The kitchen fires of millions of families burn because of aviation: the pilot and the loader, the engineer and the caterer, the dreamer at the ticket counter. Any future that forgets them is not progress — it is amputation.
So here is my prediction, and you may frame this page:
We may move at the speed of light, but do remember — we will still need some humans to spread the light and ensure that the world is nurtured, preserved, and endured.
The machine and the AI are here to help us develop — not to dominate, and not to vulgarly take away everything.
The companies, and the nations, that understand this distinction will own the next fifty years of the sky. Those that do not will learn that a cockpit without a conscience is just a very fast coffin.
But do not mistake this for a threat — it is an invitation. Our ancients settled this question long before the first wing lifted:
अयंनिजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम् ।
उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् ॥
“This is mine, that is another’s — so count the small-minded. For those of noble conduct, the whole world is one family.” — VasudhaivaKutumbakam.
We are not in the sky to dominate it. We are here to preserve, to endure, to remain alive to one another — and to hand over a beautiful legacy to the next generation, the way a good pilot hands over the aircraft: fuelled, inspected, and pointed toward the light. That is the entire prophecy. Handle the light correctly.
AW: You mentor CEOs and statesmen. What is the 9:12 counsel for the leaders walking the halls of Farnborough this week?
G: 9:12 — Speed. Timing. Efficiency. — but understand them as one motion, not three. Speed without timing is a crash; timing without efficiency is a missed slot; all three together — that is a perfect landing. Nine is wisdom, twelve is applied cosmic motion. The leader who masters when will always defeat the leader who merely masters what.
And one more thing, complimentary, from my heart: guard your people’s minds the way you guard your airframes. Metal fatigue is inspected every cycle; human fatigue, almost never. The next great aviation safety frontier is not in the wing. It is between the ears.
AW: Dear Guruji your body of work is so huge that sometimes it is overwhelming where to start. From Science to Spirituality , from peak performance to psychology, from Astrology to Global Fashion- what is even more confounding is for majority of readers is that there is also no direct way to contact you?
G: ( Smiles) : I still say and have reiterated several times that my best work till date that will deliver value to majority of the readers is, “Do Gems Work? No, they don’t – for 90% of the people.” Start with that and then the miracle and the rhythm within you will do the magic by the grace of God.
