India charts the course for net-zero aviation at the India SAF Policy Conclave 2026

New Delhi, 5th March 2026:

The SAF Association (SAFA) will convene the India SAF Policy Conclave 2026 on 17 March 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, on the sidelines of India Climate Week 2026 – Gateway to Net Zero.

At a pivotal moment for India’s aviation and energy transition, the India SAF Policy Conclave 2026 is being organised as a focused, action-oriented policy platform to accelerate the development and deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India. As global SAF mandates gather momentum and India advances its policy roadmap, the Conclave seeks to align industry, government, and investors toward building a scalable and commercially viable SAF ecosystem, bringing together senior policymakers, regulators, airlines, oil marketing companies, fuel producers, OEMs, project developers, investors, certification bodies, and research institutions to deliberate on India’s emerging SAF framework.

Strategic Focus Areas

The policy dialogue will explore:
• India’s feedstock potential and multi-feedstock strategy
• Technology pathways for domestic SAF production
• Enabling commercially viable SAF supply chains
• Certification and compliance frameworks, including CORSIA alignment
• Financing mechanisms and investment mobilisation
• Infrastructure readiness and offtake frameworks
• Policy considerations supporting India’s upcoming SAF mandate

Closed-Door Roundtable

A key feature of the Conclave will be a high-level Closed-Door Roundtable convening distinguished stakeholders from government, industry, civil society, and academia to engage in focused, solution-oriented deliberations on India’s evolving SAF landscape. Designed as an interactive and strategic dialogue platform, the roundtable will generate structured, actionable recommendations aimed at informing pragmatic, industry-aligned policy design and supporting the development of a robust and commercially viable SAF framework in India.

Rohit Kumar, Secretary General, SAF Association (SAFA) said, “India is at a pivotal stage in shaping its Sustainable Aviation Fuel roadmap. The India SAF Policy Conclave 2026 is designed as a focused, action-oriented platform to align policy ambition with industry readiness and investment momentum. Our goal is to support a pragmatic, globally competitive SAF framework that leverages India’s feedstock strengths and technological capabilities.”

Jimmy Olsson, President, SAFA, Founder ZR2 Group said,“India has a unique opportunity to design a SAF policy framework that is forward-looking, investment-friendly, and globally aligned from the outset. A well-calibrated mandate, supported by clear certification standards, long-term offtake visibility, and enabling financial mechanisms, can unlock significant domestic production capacity while strengthening India’s position in international aviation decarbonisation. Policy clarity and predictability will be the key drivers in transforming SAF from ambition to scale.”

Driving Policy with Industry Insight

The outcomes of the Conclave will be consolidated into a comprehensive Industry Feedback Report, designed to support and inform the development of India’s upcoming SAF Policy framework. The platform is structured not merely as a dialogue forum, but as a strategic intervention to ensure that India’s SAF transition is globally competitive, investment-ready, and aligned with domestic priorities.

As India positions itself to become a potential global hub for Sustainable Aviation Fuel production, the India SAF Policy Conclave 2026 will serve as a critical milestone in shaping the regulatory, financial, and technological foundations of the sector.

Participation

The Conclave is expected to witness participation from senior representatives of central and state governments, regulatory bodies, international institutions, airlines, fuel producers, climate think tanks, financial institutions, and technology providers — making it one of India’s most focused gatherings dedicated exclusively to aviation decarbonisation.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.

In this edition, we have covered topics on MRO,Various Policy changes,Sea Plane Operations by SkyHop Aviation, TATA-Airbus joint project on C295 military aircraft under Make In India which is expected to roll out soon and many other interesting contents which will be good to read.
