Sabre signs long-term distribution agreement with Delta Air Lines

SOUTHLAKE, Texas, 22nd August 2024: SABRE has finalized a multi-year renewal of its distribution agreement with Delta Air Lines. The long-term agreement enables Sabre-connected travel agents to access both traditional EDIFACT and New Distribution Capability (NDC) content, enhancing their ability to provide comprehensive travel offers to their customers. Earlier this year, Delta announced details of its selling and servicing transformation, which includes NDC. Sabre and the airline will collaborate on the integration of NDC content into Sabre’s travel marketplace to support this strategy. The renewed agreement underscores a shared commitment to the third-party distribution ecosystem and collaborative retail innovation. Regardless of technology, Sabre-connected agencies can offer a rich array of travel choices, which will evolve to include additional price points and omnichannel servicing. “We are pleased to extend our full content agreement and value-based commercial model with Sabre,” said Jeff Lobl, Managing Director, Distribution Strategy and Agency Sales Programs for Delta Air Lines. “We look forward to collaborating with Sabre to make Delta’s NDC technology solution available to all Sabre-connected travel agents to ensure that our customers receive the best possible travel experience tailored to their needs.” Both Delta Air Lines and Sabre are committed to fostering a travel marketplace that prioritizes innovation and flexibility. Air Astana and Japan Airlines sign codeshare agreement

22nd August 2024: Air Astana and Japan Airlines has announced the signing of a codeshare agreement, which allows both airlines to place their respective codes on a new Almaty to Tokyo service scheduled to be launched in spring of 2026. This agreement enhances connectivity between Kazakhstan and Japan for both business and leisure travelers, as well as more widely fostering greater movement of people and goods between the two countries. Diplomatic relations between Japan and Kazakhstan were established in 1992. Air Astana Group CEO Peter Foster remarked, “Our collaboration with Japan Airlines is an exciting development that will enrich our international network and offer more travel options for our customers. We look forward to delivering a seamless travel experience for passengers between Kazakhstan and Japan.” Japan Airlines Group CEO Mitsuko Tottori stated, “We are delighted to enter into cooperation with such a distinguished partner as Air Astana. We will contribute to further enhancement of over 30 years of diplomatic relationship between Japan and Kazakhstan, through developing passenger and cargo traffic.” More details about routes and schedules will be announced following the integration of both airlines’ scheduling and ticketing systems.

DocuBay collaborates with IAF for a gripping documentary on Kargil War

New Delhi, 17 Aug 2024: To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, IN10 Media Network’s global streaming platform, DocuBay, unveils an exclusive documentary, Kargil 1999: The Untold Story of the Indian Air Force. The film that brings forth the critical role of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the Kargil War was screened in Delhi on the 9th of August in the presence of the Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari PVSM AVSM VM ADC, senior Air Force officials and veterans who had played a significant role in this operation. The film significantly documents the IAF’s strategic and tactical prowess during Operation Safed Sagar, launched in May 1999 to support the Indian Army’s efforts to eliminate Pakistani encroachments in Kargil. The operation saw the Air Force deploy its best men and machines to support the military endeavour. The film offers edge-of-the-seat storytelling as this was the first time combat air power was used in the mountain ranges above 15,000 feet altitude and how laser-guided bombs were created and operated by the Indian Air Force during the war, appealing to a vast global audience. IAF & Indian Army carry out  precise para-drop of BHISHM critical trauma care cube at 15,000 feet

New Delhi, 17th August 2024: Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Army have jointly carried out a first-of-its-kind precise para-drop operation of the Aarogya Maitri Health Cube at a high-altitude area close to 15,000 feet. These critical trauma care cubes have been indigenously developed under Project BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita and Maitri). The operation was conducted in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of providing critical supplies to Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) affected areas. The IAF utilised its advanced tactical transport aircraft C-130J Super Hercules to airlift and precisely para-drop the cube. The Indian Army’s Para Brigade, known for its operational acumen and agility, played an instrumental role in the successful deployment of the trauma care cube, utilising their advanced precision drop equipment. This demonstration underscored the capability of such specialised military assets to effectively support HADR operations, even in the most remote and mountainous regions. The successful para-drop and deployment of the BHISHM trauma care cube exemplified the synergy & jointness of the Armed Forces and underscored the commitment to providing timely & effective assistance as first responders.

Bali International Airshow 2024: Indonesia’s Debut of First Airshow after 30 Years

Jakarta, 19th August 2024: Bali International Airshow is making a grand return to Indonesia after 30 years backed by major international aerospace companies, emphasising Indonesia’s growing influence in the global aerospace and defence sectors. The event will take place from 18 to 21 September 2024 at the Ngurah Rai International Airport featuring global aerospace and defence giants including Airbus, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, Brahmos, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Garuda Group, Leonardo (represented by Helitech Asia (Asia-Pac distributor), Lion Air, MBDA, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Textron Aviation, and Thales. This global participation underscores Indonesia’s strategic ambition to become a pivotal player in the Asia-Pacific region and solidifies its growing presence on the international stage. The airshow is a crucial step in Indonesia’s journey towards becoming a regional hub for aerospace innovation and defence technology. Key discussions will focus on scaling the production and adoption of SAF and integrating advanced air mobility technologies, such as drones and Urban Air Mobility CG systems, into conventional airspace. Furthermore, the Indonesian government is set to unveil its national roadmap for advancing the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) industry and ecosystem in Indonesia during the Airshow. This strategic roadmap underscores Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to sustainable aviation, aiming to achieve Net Zero Aviation by 2050. Simultaneously, the Bali Regional Air and Space Power Forum 2024 will focus on “Security for All: The Future of Aerospace Technology and Its Role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Operations,” addressing the growing challenges of natural disasters in the Asia-Pacific. Experts will discuss integrating advanced aerospace technologies, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, satellites, and C4ISR systems, into HADR operations to improve disaster response effectiveness. Aimed at bringing together key stakeholders from governments, civil aviation authorities, aircraft manufacturers, and other notable industry players alike, to discuss strategies for enhancing the SAF ecosystem and advancing airspace integration. “The integration of sustainable aviation fuels and advanced aerospace technologies into our airspace and disaster response systems is essential. These forums will nite global stakeholders to explore innovative solutions that foster a greener future for aviation and enhance our ability to respond to natural disasters. Moreover, the Bali International Airshow 2024 solidifies its importance by actively urging stakeholders to enhance their dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, one of the first in its kind,” added Mr. Pandjaitan. As part of its groundbreaking approach, the Bali International Airshow actively encourages aviation stakeholders to enhance their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments in developing regions. For instance, the 2024 event has formalised partnerships with Yayasan Care Peduli (CARE Indonesia) and established a significant commitment to handling environmental, health, and social issues for NTT (Nusa Tenggara Timur). Crane Aerospace & Electronics Selected to Supply Proximity Sensing System for Deutsche Aircraft’s D328eco

LYNNWOOD, Wash/Wessling, 19th August, 2024: Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Company , has been selected by German Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Deutsche Aircraft to supply the Proximity Sensing System for its 40-seater regional turboprop aircraft, the D328eco. This decision comes several months after Crane A&E was chosen to provide the brake control system for the same aircraft. For 60 years, Crane A&E has provided aircraft manufacturers with reliable proximity sensing components and systems for high-reliability position sensing of aircraft mechanical systems. More than 30 years ago, Crane was selected to provide a similar Proximity Sensing System for the D328® turboprop, Building on this successful partnership. Turkish Airlines Expands Data Intelligence and Modern Retailing Services with Travelport

LANGLEY UK, 20th August, 2024: Travelport, a global technology company had announced that it has extended its long-term agreement with Turkish Airlines. The Turkish flagship carrier aims to enhance its modern retailing capabilities in Travelport+ with the ability to quickly and easily customize offers for group bookings. The addition of Travelport’s automated allocation management feature will allow the airline to improve inventory management and seamlessly tailor its group offers for travel retailers using Travelport+. Singapore Airlines announces network adjustments for 2025

Singapore, 12th August 2024: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will increase flight frequencies and boost passenger capacity across its network in the 2025 Northern Summer operating season (30 March 2025 to 25 October 2025), supporting the higher demand for air travel to several popular destinations. From 30 March 2025, SIA will have a daily service to London (Gatwick), up from the current five-times weekly services. Together with its four-times daily flights to London (Heathrow), this will give the Airline five daily services to the United Kingdom’s capital. Services to Rome will increase to five times a week between 26 June 2025 and 28 August 2025, up from the current four weekly flights. SIA will delink its three-times weekly Singapore-Milan-Barcelona flights from 24 June 2025 to 7 September 2025 and operate more direct flights between Singapore and the two European cities. The Airline will mount five-times weekly direct flights to Barcelona during this period, up from the current two weekly flights. Milan will have a daily service, up from four-times weekly currently. Flights to Adelaide will go up to 10 a week across the Northern Winter 2024 and Northern Summer 2025 seasons, up from the current seven-times weekly services. Frequencies to Ho Chi Minh City will rise to thrice daily, up from 19-times weekly, and services to Siem Reap will go to twice daily, up from a daily service. A three-times weekly service will be mounted to Johannesburg from 11 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, and from 2 April 2025 to 24 October 2025, bringing the total number of flights to the city to 10 times a week, up from the current daily services, during these periods. The Airbus A380 will return to Tokyo (Narita) between 30 March 2025 and 31 May 2025 on one of its two daily services, replacing the Boeing 787-10. The A380 will stop operating to Mumbai from 28 July 2025 to 31 August 2025, and Delhi from 23 June 2025 to 27 July 2025, and will be replaced by the Boeing 777-300ER. In line with its capacity adjustments, SIA will suspend services to Houston via Manchester from 1 April 2025. However, SIA will maintain five-times weekly services between Singapore and Manchester via SQ302 and SQ301. Details on the flight schedules can be found in Annexe A. Mr Dai Haoyu, Acting Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Singapore Airlines, said: “Singapore Airlines regularly reviews our network and routes to align our capacity with demand. These adjustments, ahead of next summer, cater to the higher demand to several destinations, particularly during the traditional mid-year peak travel season, enabling our customers to confidently make their 2025 travel plans. We look forward to connecting our customers to the world with SIA’s extensive network, and delivering an unparalleled travel experience.”

Air India Express enhances domestic connectivity with six new daily direct flights

Delhi,13th August-2024,: Air India Express has launched six new daily direct flights in a single day, further strengthening its domestic network. The new flights operate on the Chennai-Bhubaneswar, Chennai-Bagdogra, Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata-Varanasi, Kolkata-Guwahati, and Guwahati-Jaipur sectors. Five of these routes are new to the airline’s growing network. The newly introduced Guwahati-Jaipur flight is an exclusive route, served by Air India Express. To meet the increasing demand on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route, previously served with two weekly flights, the airline has now introduced an additional daily service, bringing the total to nine flights a week.

AirAsia announces new route from Port Blair to Kuala Lumpur

Mumbai, 13 August 2024: AirAsia further enhances its network from India to Malaysia and Thailand with the announcement of a new route from Port Blair to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. With this service AirAsia becomes the sole airline in Asian to operate international flights to and from Port Blair. Set to commence on 16 November 2024, AirAsia will fly three times weekly to Kuala Lumpur, marking its 17th and counting route from India. With the addition of Port Blair, the airline operates flights from numerous cities acrossIndia,including Amritsar,Chennai and more,with a total of 97 flights weekly. In 2024 alone, AirAsia launched 10 new routes to Malaysia and Thailand, namely Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Kozhikode – just to name a few. To commemorate the launch of this new route, AirAsia is offering promotional fares to Kuala Lumpur from Port Blair from only INR 4,999 all-in*one way for travel between 16 November 2024 to 8 October 2025. All Indian citizens are eligible for visa-free entry to Malaysia for tourist visits of upto 30 days until 30June 2025.
