Garuda Aerospace Accelerates Global Expansion; Forays in to Sri Lanka

Delhi, August 12, 2024: Indian drone technology company, Garuda Aerospace has forayed into Sri Lanka, marking another significant step in the company’s global expansion plans. Garuda Aerospace’s initial operations in Sri Lanka will primarily target the agricultural sector, introducing advanced drone technology to enhance farming practices in the country while also exploring opportunities in homeland security and industrial applications. The expansion to Sri Lanka will also support the company in capitalising on the country’s strategic location and drone-friendly regulatory environment. Having clocked over INR 100 crores in revenues in FY2024, Garuda Aerospace now aims to be present in at least 50 countries over the next few years as a part of its global expansion plans with approximately $10 million earmarked for international growth. A significant allocation of these funds is towards operations in Sri Lanka. Garuda Aerospace’s Sri Lankan operations are set to commence imminently. flybig starts flights between Moradabad and Lucknow sector under UDAN

Delhi, 10th August 2024: Regional airline, flybig, launched the flight between Moradabad and Lucknow,further expanding its domestic network under the UDAN scheme up to 12th destination. The flight from Moradabad to Lucknow was inaugurated by Dharampal Singh, State government minister and Baldev Singh Aulakh,the Minister of State for Agriculture, who attended the ceremony. “As a committed regional carrier, flybig is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable air travel options to underserved and unserved airports across India,” said Capt. Saanjay Mandavia, CMD and Founder of flybig.”The introduction of flights between Moradabad and Lucknow will benefit business travellers, tourists, and local residents, facilitating seamless regional connectivity.” The airline will operate thrice-weekly flights between Moradabad and Lucknow on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. flybig has also recently launched services from Lucknow to four key destinations, which include Azamgarh, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, and Shravasti, enhancing regional connectivity in Uttar Pradesh.

Etihad to add A380 for Singapore and Thailand from Feb 2025 onwards

Abu Dhabi, 9th August 2024: On the occasion of Singapore National Day,Etihad Airways has announced that it will start flying its A380 double-decker to Singapore (SIN) from 1 February, 2025. The Asian-Pacific powerhouse becomes the fourth major city to enjoy the Etihad A380 experience in addition to London and New York, as well as Paris which will be served by the A380 from 1 November. It means Etihad will have its sixth A380 in operation by the start of 2025. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways, said: “We are thrilled to announce that our iconic A380 aircraft will begin serving the Singapore route early next year. “This aircraft provides our business and leisure travellers with an exceptional flying experience and seamless connections to our Middle East, European, and North American networks. It highlights Etihad’s dedication to optimising travel to Abu Dhabi and beyond, ensuring more convenience and comfort for our guests. “We will have our sixth A380 online next year as we build our capacity further to cater for the travel needs of our guests.”

Fintech Major Niyo Expands with New Travel-Banking Offerings

Delhi, August 08, 2024: Niyo, India’s pioneering travel banking platform, has expanded into the flight bookings and visa application segments, offering integrated travel-banking solutions to travelers. Niyo has been offering zero-forex markup debit and credit cards to India’s two million international travelers in partnership with banks. This strategic move aims to provide end-to-end travel solutions to customers via the app and tap into India’s burgeoning new-to-international travelers segment. Niyo has developed an in-house flight booking platform to offer affordable domestic and international flight options with zero convenience fees. Additionally, Niyo has simplified the visa application process with the launch of a new visa booking product on its app, providing affordability and convenience to customers traveling internationally at zero service fee. These two offerings, along with the Niyo Coins – the new rewards program , will offer superior affordability and convenience to the customers. With this expansion, Niyo expects the average spending per customer on the platform to increase by 50%. Additionally, with the visa application offering, the company aims to reduce the time and effort required for visa applications by 80%. According to a report by Mastercard Economics Institute, 97 million passengers traveled through Indian international airports in the first three months of 2024, a figure that took a year to reach a decade ago. The report highlights that the growing middle class and increasing incomes are driving the travel industry’s growth. Over the next five years, India is expected to add over 20 million middle-class individuals and nearly two million high-income earners. This expanding affluent customer base is fueling exceptional growth in the outbound travel segment. San Francisco International Airport debuts a new logo and brand identity

San Francisco, 7th August, 2024: The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) debuts a new logo and brand identity, retiring its current “flight lines” logo after 24 years of use. The new brand marks the Airport’s ongoing commitment to modernization and an extraordinary passenger experience whilst reflecting the City’s rich history and spirit of innovation. “We are excited to introduce our new brand and logo, which reflects the exciting changes happening at SFO,” said Ivar C. Satero, Airport Director. “Much like our old logo marked a period of time in the early 21st century, the new logo shows our commitment to deliver an airport experience where people and our planet come first.” From the fluid path of the S to the wing of the F, to the portal of the O, SFO’s new logo represents the spirit of our rich history, the dynamism of the present, and the boundless possibilities of the future. With a primary color we call SFO Golden Hour Blue, the new color pays homage to the past while transforming to a brighter and more vibrant blue. The logo also reflects our new Vision: Inspiring the Extraordinary; and our new Mission: Delivering an airport experience where people and our planet come first. At its core, SFO is about people: travelers, the community, and airport team members. The new logo allows for flexibility in creating special-themed logos utilizing the “O”, to reflect the essence of the people and projects that make us who we are. The debut of the new brand identity caps an 18-month process of market research and creative ideation. The new logo and brand showcase a digital-first design, allowing SFO’s mark to be optimized for digital environments, scaling across different devices and screen sizes. The new font is readily available and easy to read, and the overall design provides creative flexibility to adapt to different messages. The logo will be phased in over several years. Digital instances will be prioritized for deployment, followed by scheduled new and replacement items like uniforms, buses, and print messages, followed by instances as part of larger construction and capital projects.

CSMIA celebrates Aviation Security Culture Week

  Mumbai, 6th August 2024: As part of Aviation Security Culture Week, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) hosted a Mini Marathon. With an endeavor to raise awareness on Aviation Security,the 5-kilometer run on the airport elevated road, starting at Terminal 2, saw participation of approximately 400 individuals, including employees of Mumbai International Airport, CISF officials, Airline partners, Ground Handling agencies, and general public. The event fostered a community spirit and reinforced Mumbai Airport’s commitment to make air travel safe and seamless for all.
