    Vistara inaugurates daily, direct flights between Delhi and Hong Kong

    Mumbai, 30 October 2023: Vistara has announced starting of daily, non-stop flights between Delhi and Hong Kong. The inaugural flight, operated on Vistara’s A321neo aircraft, commenced from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi at 21:05 Hours (IST) on 29 October 2023 and arrived at Hong Kong International Airport at 05:55 Hours (HKT) today. Vistara’s A321neo is distinguished for its exceptional features, including comfortable three-class seating with full-flat beds in Business Class, contemporary interiors, in-flight wireless connectivity, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system with Live TV, among others. Vinod Kannan, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “The launch of direct connectivity to Hong Kong is in line with our strategy of steadily growing our international network.     AAI inaugurates Indigenous ATM Automation System at Bhubaneswar Airport

    New Delhi, 27th October, 2023: Airports Authority of India (AAI) in its continuous efforts to make skies safer and efficient is striving towards modernizing the Air Traffic Management System by investing in State-of-the-art ATM Automation Systems, Surveillance, Communication and Navigation systems. AAI over the last few decades gained vast experience and expertise in developing Quality Requirements for the ATM Automation Systems (ATMAS). Now, AAI and BEL together has achieved remarkable results with success of the Project “Development of Indigenous ATM Automation System and integration of Advanced-surface movement guidance and control system (ASMGCS) with ATMAS”at Bhubaneswar Airport. The new facility was inaugurated Sh. Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, Airports Authority of India and Sh. Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited, in the august presence of senior officials from both AAI & BEL on 26th October, 2023. The joint development of Indigenous ATM Automation System, underlining the journey of creativity with excellence is aglitteringachievement for AAI and BEL, leveraging on their capabilities and expertise in the fields of ATM systems and R&D giving wings to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’&’Make in India’ mission of Government of India. The new ATMS will also reduce AAI’s foreign dependency for procurement of ANS infrastructure, thereby saving a large amount of foreign exchange outlay, and has etched a new chapter of collaboration in Indian Aviation Industry. ATM Automation System provides the Controllers Conflict prediction/Alert warnings and decision-making tools, enabling Safe and efficient Air Traffic Control.Given that Automation is the mainstay in ATM for handling the growing traffic, AAI’s massive steps to install ATM automation at all medium and major ATC Centers have led to enhanced Safety and operational efficiency apart from assuaging the stress levels of the Controllers. The system comprises multiple, in-house developed technologies, such as Situation Display for Air traffic controller, Surveillance Data Processing (SDP), Flight Data Processing (FDP), Safety Net and Decision Support (SNET), Control & Monitoring Display (CMD), Advanced ASMGCS, etc. It helps in increasing capacity with improved safety by reducing controller workload, improving air traffic flow and minimizing flight delays. Enhanced system reliability and availability are provided through redundant and distributed architecture, safeguarding ATM operations. The MoU for joint development of indigenous ATM Automation System between AAI and BEL was signed during Wings India – 2022 at Hyderabad on 24thMarch 2022.

    Air India announces senior management appointments

    Gurugram, 27th October 2023: Air India today announced the appointment of Capt Klaus Goersch as in a newly created role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer that will oversee Flight Operations, Engineering, Ground Operations, Integrated Operations Control (IOCC) and Cabin Crew functions. Capt Goersch is a licensed B777/787 pilot who has previously held similar positions in both British Airways and Air Canada, and will be based out of Air India’s new headquarters in Gurugram. Incumbent Chief of Operations Capt RS Sandhu, who had already extended his service with Air India beyond his superannuation date, will transition to an advisory role with particular focus on the harmonisation of the four Tata airlines’ operating procedures, the Airbus A350 entry-into-service program and assisting the team establishing Air India’s new Training Academy. Welcoming Capt Goersch onboard, Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India said, “We are pleased to have Klaus join the Air India family. Having worked at some of the best airlines in the world, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that is valuable to the ongoing transformation at Air India. At Air India, we remain committed to building top leadership as we continue to invest in all the resources that are required to take the airline to the upper echelons of global aviation.” Air India also announced other senior announcements to further strengthen its management team. Capt Manish Uppal, who transitioned from Air Asia India a few months ago, has been appointed as Senior Vice President Flight Operations, while Capt Henry Donohoe’s Corporate Safety, Security and Quality role will be expanded to include Emergency Response, and be retitled Senior Vice President Safety, Security and Quality. Pankaj Handa joins to lead Ground Operations, Choorah Singh joins as Divisional Vice President Integrated Operations Control and JuLi Ng joins as Divisional Vice President Cabin Crew. They all will report to Capt Goersch, as well Capt Uppal and Sisira Kanta Dash, Senior Vice President Engineering. Concurrently, the Inflight Product & Service Design functions headed by Sandeep Verma will move to Rajesh Dogra’s Customer Experience portfolio so that the latter has oversight of all customer interfaces. Capt Goersch, Dogra and Capt Donohoe will report directly to Campbell Wilson, as will existing Management Committee members Nipun Aggarwal, Dr Satya Ramaswamy, Dr Suresh Dutt Tripathi and Vinod Hejmadi, whose roles remain unchanged. “These changes have been made with a view to managing succession, streamlining the organisation, optimising talent from within the Tata airline group and positioning it strongly for future growth and success,” Wilson added.

    Air Astana takes delivery of eleventh Airbus A321LR

    Almaty, 24th October 2023: The flag carrier of Kazakhstan, Air Astana received the eleventh Airbus A321LR following delivery at the manufacturer’s assembly plant in Hamburg, Germany.The total number of aircraft in the Air Astana Group fleet has now grown to 48 aircraft, of which 40 aircraft are Airbus family types. The Airbus A321LR is configured with 150 economy class seats and 16 business class seats, four of which offer increased space with only one seat rows.The continued expansion of the Airbus A321LR fleet demonstrates the airline’s commitment to operate environmentally efficient aircraft, which also offer increased passenger comfort.

    Air India launches non-stop service between Bengaluru and Singapore

    Gurugram, 23 October 2023:Air India has launched a non-stop service between Bengaluru and Singapore from 22nd October 2023. The new service will cater to the need of a convenient direct connection between the two cities. AI392 will depart Bengaluru at 2230 hrs to reach Singapore at 0540 hrs the next morning. The return flight AI393 will take off from Singapore at 0640 hrs to land in Bengaluru at 0835 hrs (All Local Time). The flight, operated with an Airbus A321 aircraft, will have a two-class configuration of 170 Economy and 12 Business Class seats and operate four days a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The new connection will lend a boost to tourism and trade in the two cities and help the leisure travellers, students, and business community. Air India has also enhanced the frequency from Mumbai to Singapore from seven flights a week to 13 flights a week from 22nd October 2023. With the increased frequency and commencement of service from Bengaluru, Air India is currently operating a total of 38 non-stop flights to Singapore per week from Delhi (14 flights), Mumbai (13 flights), Chennai (7 flights) and Bengaluru (4 flights) connecting the Merlion City.

    Cyient signs MoU with Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding to Upskill its Workforce on Digital Technologies

    Jazeera Airways reduces in-flight single use plastic

    /

    India,19th October2023: Jazeera Airways, Kuwait based low cost carrier, recently introduced sustainable food service ware on all flights across its network of 64 destinations. By changing from plastic cutlery to 100% biodegradable spoons, forks, knives and napkins, Jazeera reduces 300 kilograms of plastic on its flights each month. The cutlery is made from natural materials including leaves of the date palm trees. All of these materials are certified biodegradable and compostable. Earlier in the year, Jazeera also switched from plastic stirrers to wooden ones as a part of its sustainable practices. The airline is the first low cost carrier in the Middle East to switch from plastic to eco-friendly food service ware in-flight. Rohit Ramachandran, Chief Executive Officer, Jazeera Airways said “As a low cost carrier, we have to be cost conscious in our business, but we are also mindful of our ethical, social and environmental accountability. In the last few years, we have taken small steps towards sustainability and continue to stay focused on reducing or offsetting our carbon emissions. Changing to biodegradable service ware is another small initiative that we are hoping will contribute to a larger impact. Our ultimate goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.” In 2021, Jazeera Airways placed an order for 28 new A320neo and A321neo aircraft, an investment in the excess of US$3.4 billion. The A320neo aircraft provide an 18% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions, and cut NOx emissions and noise pollution by 50% each. For customers, Jazeera runs CHOOOSE™, a carbon offset program providing them with the option to reduce their flight’s environmental footprint by choosing to contribute to climate projects. The airline has also invested in 2,000+ units of the new Expliseat TiSeat E2 model, the world’s lightest aircraft seat. Roll out of these seats on Jazeera Airways’ aircraft is expected to begin in 2024. With the Expliseat lightweight seats, Jazeera will deliver a substantial weight saving of 1.2 metric tons per aircraft, reduce jet fuel consumption and increase passenger capacity.
