Bahrain International Airshow secures 10 exhibitors for 2026

Bahrain, 25th November 2025: The Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) proudly secured partnerships with new and existing partners, strengthening its position as one of the region’s premier aviation events, during its attendance at the Dubai Airshow 2025. The Bahrain delegation was led by His Excellency Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, who met with leading global aerospace and aviation companies to discuss the upcoming Bahrain International Airshow 2026, set to take place from 18-20 November next year at the Sakhir Airbase. During the Dubai Airshow, His Excellency Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa held productive discussions with key industry leaders, exploring avenues for collaboration, investment, and participation in BIAS 2026. These meetings underscored Bahrain’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing the Kingdom’s strategic role as a regional aviation hub. Global industry leaders Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Thales, joined Joramco, DHL, DFS Aviation, Chevron, Bahrain Airport Services, Aloula Aviation and Valo Aviation in securing their presence at BIAS 2026 during the Dubai Airshow. Commenting on the occasion, His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said: “The Bahrain International Airshow continues to strengthen its global reputation as a dynamic platform for connecting decision-makers and driving collaboration across the aviation and aerospace sectors. BEL and Safran Electronics & Defence ink Joint Venture Cooperation Agreement

New Delhi,25 Nov 2025: In a major impetus to Make-in-India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Safran Electronics and Defence (SED), France have signed a Joint Venture Cooperation Agreement (JVCA) for the production of Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) Smart Precision Guided Air-to-Ground Weapon in India. The JVCA was inked by CMD, BEL Manoj Jain and Executive Vice President, SED Alexandre Ziegler in the presence of Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar & CEO Safran Olivier Andries in New Delhi on November 24, 2025. The agreement formalises the intent expressed in the MoU signed between BEL and SED on February 11, 2025 during Aero India, reaffirming the willingness of both sides to incorporate a potential Joint Venture Company (JVC) in India. The JVC shall be formed as a private limited company with 50:50 shareholding. It will localise the manufacturing, supply and maintenance of HAMMER to meet the operational needs of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy. The indigenisation level will progressively increase upto 60 percent with key sub-assemblies, electronics and mechanical parts being manufactured locally. The transfer of production will happen in a phased manner with BEL leading final assembly, testing and quality assurance. HAMMER is a combat-proven, precision-guided weapon system known for its high accuracy and modular design, making it adaptable for multiple platforms, including the Rafale and Light Combat Aircraft Tejas. This JVCA underscores BEL’s commitment to strengthening India’s defence industrial base and aims at leveraging SED’s extensive experience in manufacturing of smart precision guided air-to-ground weapon.

DAS witness over 248,000 visitors with deals surpassing USD 202 Billion

Dubai, 25 November 2025: The Dubai Airshow 2025 set a historic record with deals surpassing USD202 billion, double the USD101 billion secured at the 18th edition in 2023. This achievement reinforces Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub and a key centre shaping the future of the aviation and space industries. The 19th edition of the event, ranked among the largest globally, drew record attendance over five days, welcoming 248,788 visitors, including experts, decision makers, and industry specialists from around the world. This exceptional edition reinforced Dubai Airshow’s standing as a premier global platform for aviation, space, and related industries. This year’s edition of the event featured more than 1,500 exhibitors, including 440 participating for the first time, and 490 military and civil delegations from 115 countries. The 19th edition also included 21 national pavilions, 98 chalets, an additional display area of 8,000 square metres, as well as 120 startups and 50 investors. During the Airshow, Emirates placed an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft and 8 more Airbus A350-900 jets, with a total value of $41.4 billion. This brings the airline’s total wide-body aircraft orders to 375, with deliveries scheduled through 2038. Meanwhile, flydubai also signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing to purchase 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft valued at $13 billion, reflecting the airline’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s vision for the growth of the aviation sector in the coming years. The unprecedented successes of this edition reflect the strong momentum that Dubai Airshow continues to generate, as well as Dubai’s growing influence in driving innovation and growth across the global aviation, space, and defence sectors. They also underscore the confidence the emirate enjoys within the international communities involved in these industries. Reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to lead in space innovation, this year’s edition featured the largest-ever Space Pavilion, organised in partnership with the UAE Space Agency, alongside a two-day Space Conference that gathered more than 50 experts and astronauts to advance the commercialisation of space technologies, address key challenges, and foster global collaboration. The Dubai Airshow 2025 showcased its commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as supplying sustainable aviation fuel for participating aircraft, operating ground support equipment powered by electricity and propane in partnership with Jetex, and running exhibition halls entirely on renewable energy. Operational indicators demonstrated high levels of preparedness and collaboration among the government entities forming Team Dubai, enhancing visitor flow and operational efficiency throughout the venue and its surrounding areas. Held under the theme ‘The Future is Here’, the Dubai Airshow continues to unite global industry leaders and shape the next generation of civil and military aviation technologies. BLS International gets visa outsourcing contract from Embassy of Cyprus in Russia

New Delhi, 25th November 2025: BLS International has signed a contract with the Embassy of Cyprus in Russia to provide comprehensive visa outsourcing services. Under the terms of this agreement, BLS International will oversee Cyprus visa application operations in Russia, establishing centers across nine major cities and offering streamlined, secure, and customer-friendly visa services. The centres will incorporate enhanced infrastructure and advanced technology to ensure a seamless experience for applicants. Shikhar Aggarwal, Joint Managing Director at BLS International, said, “This collaboration with the Embassy of Cyprus in Russia is a meaningful milestone that reflects the trust placed in us to deliver services with integrity and global standards. Deutsche Aircraft Appoints Ernst-Georg Schröder as Final Assembly Line Manager

Leipzig, Germany, 25 November 2025: Deutsche Aircraft has appointed Ernst-Georg Schröder as Manager of the Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the D328eco® at Leipzig/Halle Airport.He brings over 25 years of experience in aerospace production and operations, with a track record in leading complex assembly and maintenance environments. Prior to joining Deutsche Aircraft, he held senior leadership roles at Rolls-Royce Deutschland, where he managed large-scale operations, including OEM assembly and MRO activities for business jets and commercial engines. In his new role, Ernst-Georg will oversee the setup and ramp-up of the D328eco Final Assembly Line, driving efficiency and quality as Deutsche Aircraft advances its next-generation regional aircraft programme. “I am excited to join Deutsche Aircraft at such a pivotal moment,” reflected Ernst-Georg Schröder. “The D328eco represents a significant step forward for sustainable aviation and I look forward to contributing to its successful production.” Sebastian Böhnl, Leipzig Site Manager, commented, “Ernst-Georg’s extensive experience in engine assembly and operational leadership will be invaluable as we transition from construction to full-scale production. The facility, located on a 60,500m² site, is designed to be carbon-neutral and fully digital, featuring automated transport systems, energy-efficient tools and augmented reality integration. With an annual production capacity of up to 48 aircraft, the site will create 250–350 highly skilled jobs and reinforce Leipzig’s role as a strategic aviation hub in Europe. Deutsche Aircraft has invested €100 million into this project, underscoring its commitment to sustainable manufacturing and innovation.

Helvetic Airways orders for up to eight E195-E2 aircraft

Dubai, November 24, 2025: The Swiss Airline Helvetic Airways had placed a new firm order for three Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with five additional purchase rights, reinforcing the Swiss carrier’s commitment to modern and sustainable aviation. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2026. Each E195-E2 will be configured with 134 seats in a single-class layout, featuring modern Recaro seating, offering passengers comfort and efficiency. This latest order will enable Helvetic Airways to grow its E2 fleet from 12 to up to 20 aircraft in the coming years, strengthening its position as a leading European operator of Embraer’s advanced E-Jet family. “We are proud to deepen our partnership with Embraer through this further order for the E2,” said Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways. “The E195-E2 is the ideal aircraft for our network, offering exceptional fuel efficiency, low noise emissions, and a high-quality passenger experience. This order supports our modern fleet strategy and sustainability goals while maintaining operational flexibility across Europe. It will also enhance our ability to serve various European customers through our ACMI operations.” Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, added: “Helvetic Airways continues to demonstrate the versatility and value of the E2 family in European operations. Their decision to expand the E195-E2 fleet is a strong endorsement of the aircraft’s performance, economics, and environmental credentials. We’re proud to support Helvetic’s growth and their role in delivering reliable, efficient service in their main area of wet-lease operations.” Helvetic Airways first ordered the E2 in 2018, with a firm order for 12 E190-E2s, including conversions rights to the E195-E2. The airline currently operates: • Eight E190-E2s • Four E195-E2s • Four E190s • Four E195s The E2 jets are deployed across Helvetic’s scheduled, charter, and wet-lease operations. The airline was also the first to operate the E190-E2 and the E195-E2 E2 aircraft into London City Airport for Swiss International Air Lines, showcasing the aircraft’s steep approach capability and quiet performance.

Alstef Group signs contract for complete baggage handling system at Bodø Airport, Norway

Norway, 24th Nov 2025: Alstef Group has signed a contract with Hent, the general contractor for airport operator Avinor, for the design and delivery of a complete inbound and outbound baggage handling system at Bodø Airport, Norway’s sixth-largest airport. “Alstef Group went through a tough and thorough procurement phase, leading HENT to start a year-long design and cooperation phase with them for the new Bodø Airport. During this design and cooperation stage, Alstef has shown that they are very well equipped and capable of solving the unique challenges that the new Bodø Airport presents. As a result, we at HENT have decided to award them the turnkey contract for the BHS at the new Bodø Airport”stated a HENT spokesperson. The departure system scope includes check-in conveyors, transport lines to the hold baggage screening, an automatic sortation solution, 24 make-up chutes, transfer lines, and barcode readers. For arrivals, the system will feature three new reclaim carousels (two inclined and one flat), complete with feed lines and barcode readers. The project also includes SCADA integration and a Sortation Allocation Control (SAC) system to ensure a fully operational, reliable, and future-ready baggage handling system. Following several months of detailed design collaboration, Alstef Group is looking forward to working with Hent on behalf of Avinor to deliver this project. The award of this contract reflects Alstef Group’s proven expertise in providing complete, efficient, and integrated baggage handling solutions in operational airports. “We are confident that Alstef’s expertise, know-how, and knowledge will benefit HENT, the client, and the city of Bodø in creating a baggage handling system that will take the airport into the future. Dubai Airshow 2025 witness record orders,vows for next-generation aerospace technology 

DUBAI,20th November 2025: This year of Dubai Airshow witnessed unprecedented growth for the global aerospace industry, uniting leaders through record-breaking multi-billion-dollar deals, transformative innovations, and immersive experiences. Fresh features and milestone announcements kept the excitement high across days two and three, setting the stage for the next era of aviation and reinforcing Dubai Airshow’s position as the ultimate platform for industry transformation. From major fleet expansions to cutting-edge technology showcases, the event delivered defining moments that propel aerospace forward. Across these days, Airbus received multiple new orders, welcomed new customers and signed agreements. flydubai and Airbus signed a landmark agreement to purchase 150 A321neo aircraft, with options for 100 more, marking the first time the airline has placed an order with Airbus. The agreement is valued at US$ 24 billion, and deliveries will start in 2031. Etihad Airways also announced a significant expansion of its Airbus fleet, placing an order for six A330-900s – making it the latest A330neo customer – along with seven additional A350-1000 aircraft and three A350F. It also announced a commitment to lease nine A330-900s from Avolon. Meanwhile, Emirates ordered eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft worth US$ 3.4 billion, Ethiopian Airlines became a new Airbus customer, ordering six A350-900 aircraft, along with other key signings from Air Europa and Buraq Air. The company also signed agreements with Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and Aspire to accelerate advanced technologies for aviation, Strata and Mubadala. Gabriel Semelas, President, Airbus Africa and Middle East, comments: “Dubai Airshow is always an exceptional platform for industry innovation and collaboration, uniting the pioneers shaping the future of aerospace. This year continued that momentum, and we’re proud to have signed landmark agreements – such as welcoming flydubai and Buraq Air as new customers and seeing Etihad Airways become the latest A330neo customer, while expanding its A350 fleet. We also secured new partnerships and extended our long-standing collaborations with Strata and Mubadala, reflecting the UAE’s growing role in the global aerospace supply chain. As the Middle East continues to witness major growth and investment, the Airshow remains the ideal place to see this transformation in action.” Also, during days two and three, flydubai ordered 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and Gulf Air announced an order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, building on its July commitment, with options for three more Dreamliners. In addition, AerCap announced that South African low-cost carrier FlySafair signed a lease agreement for five Boeing 737 family jets, three 737 MAX and two 737NG. During the 19th edition of Dubai Airshow, EDGE Group utilised the platform as an opportunity to launch 42 new products and solutions, delivering one of the most ambitious launches in its history. EDGE Group has also signed numerous agreements, including MoU’s with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to explore future collaboration across aerospace, defence, and related high-technology sectors, as well as with L3Harris Technologies to develop innovative solutions that will contribute to the UAE’s growing defense capabilities. Hamad Al Marar, MD and CEO of EDGE Group, said: “At this year’s edition of Dubai Airshow, we have demonstrated how EDGE continues to push past existing boundaries to disrupt the industry across the air and space domains. With one of the most ambitious launches in our history, 42 new products and solutions were launched including the phenomenal OMEN VTOL, the first solution in an ambitious co-development partnership with US innovator, Anduril. The contracts support the country’s strategic objectives in technology transfer, localisation and industrial advancement, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.” A brand-new feature for this edition, Airshow After Dark brought the industry together for networking, entertainment, and celebration in iconic ‘Dubai’ fashion. The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.
