Air India Express unveils first B737-8 Retrofit aircraft

New Delhi,28th October 2025: Air India Express unveiled the new cabin interiors and refreshed onboard ambience of its latest Boeing 737-8 aircraft at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The aircraft, registered as VT-BWD, features the regal Tsüngkotepsü-inspired tail art, celebrating the warrior heritage of the AoNagas from Nagaland. The unveiling marks another significant milestone in the airline’s transformation journey, which began with the launch of its refreshed brand identity in October 2023. Winter Schedule 2025: Air India Express undertook a comprehensive network optimisation exercise beginning September 2025. The exercise aims to enhance connectivity, strengthen hub operations, and build frequency density across key markets. In April 2025, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru accounted for about 62% of the airline’s total domestic departures. By November 2025, this share is projected to increase significantly to around 74%, reflecting the growing focus on hub-based operations. From Bengaluru, Air India Express has further strengthened its short-haul international network with the addition of four new destinations – Bangkok, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Riyadh – as part of its Winter Schedule. Most of the realignment will be completed by the end of the Winter 2025 season.

MoCA participated in the special campaign for disposal of pending matters

New Delhi, 27th October 2025: Ministry of Civil Aviation participated in the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) 5.0, which is ongoing from October 2 to October 31, 2025. Significant Progress Achieved So Far: 87% of public Grievance redressal targets have already been achieved. A total of 4,988 physical files have been successfully weeded out. 405 cleanliness drives have been conducted against a target of 480. Approximately 31,353 sq. ft. of office space has been freed through the disposal of scrap, e-waste, and redundant files. A revenue of Rs. 81,66,756 has been generated as a result of Scrap Disposal. The Special Campaign is being spearheaded by Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu. A review meeting was chaired by the Minister on 09.10.2025 with the senior officers and Heads of Organisations under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Further, on 13.10.2025, the Minister conducted a walkthrough of the Ministry premises, interacted with the staff, reviewed the cleanliness of the canteen, and inspected the library. He encouraged the Ministry officials to adopt Swachhata in their actions, behaviour and thought process.

India to host APAC- AIG meeting and workshop in Delhi

New Delhi,October 27 2025: Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on behalf of Ministry of Civil Aviation, will be hosting a four-day Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC- AIG) meeting along with workshop from 28-31 October 2025. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu is scheduled to inaugurate the event. The APAC-AIG meeting is held annually and ICAO member states in the Asia Pacific region along with various international organizations participate in the said meeting. The meeting is generally hosted by any one of the ICAO member states in the APAC region. India will be hosting the APAC-AIG meeting for the first time. There will be particpation of approximately 90 represenratives from aircraft accident investigation authorirtes of Asia Pacific countries as well as from the ICAO. Various aspects of aircraft accident investigations, including the processes and reporting, will be discussed at the meeting. The meetings of the group aims to promote the sharing of expertise, experience, and information among accident/incident investigation authorities and aims to develop and strengthen cooperation among them to improve the accident/incident investigation capability in the Asia and Pacific Regions. The workshop will be held on 28-29 October 2025 which will cover topics related to aircraft accident investigations. The workshop will have officials from AAIB, DGCA along with international participants. The representatives from ICAO member states in the Asia Pacific region and AAIB officials will hold discussions on October 30 and 31.

Air Astana switches to winter schedule

Astana,October 27, 2025: Air Astana switched to a winter schedule on 26th October 2025, which will remain effective until 28th March 2026.The updated flight schedule reflects seasonal travel demand by offering passengers enhanced connectivity across Kazakhstan and to international destinations. During the winter season, passenger demand traditionally shifts towards leisure destinations across Asia and the Middle East, with Air Astana’s revised schedule following these travel patterns. The airline is increasing flight frequencies to popular international leisure routes, including those to the Maldives, Phu Quoc, Dubai, Bangkok, and Phuket. Air Astana will continue to adjust its schedule according to market dynamics, maintaining its commitment to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and passenger comfort. Passengers are advised to check the latest flight schedules and status updates via the official Air Astana website and mobile app.

The ePlane Company signs MOU with Ramco Systems

Chennai, October 27, 2025: Global aviation software provider Ramco Systems has signed a MoU with The ePlane Company for the full lifecycle management of its e200X air taxi, air ambulance and air cargo fleet. The MOU sets the foundation for ePlane to leverage Ramco Aviation Software for the ePlane e200X. As the e200X progresses through certification and regulatory approvals, Ramco and ePlane will work together to implement Ramco Aviation Software in phases, aligned with the e200X’s journey toward manufacturing and commercial service. Under the MOU, ePlane will have access to Ramco Aviation Software’s comprehensive suite of modules, which may be leveraged during the lifecycle of e200X. These include capabilities for Engineering & CAMO, Maintenance, Supply Chain, MRO & Part Sales, Flight Operations, Safety, Quality and Compliance, Manufacturing, Employee Management and Finance & Accounting. Ryanair adds 300,000 seats to Amman in its winter schedule

Amman, Jordan, October 23, 2025: Ryanair has announced a record Winter schedule for Amman, offering over 300,000 seats across 18 destinations and connecting Jordan to 12 EU countries, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The rapid restoration of Ryanair’s full operations at Amman Airport and the pro-business approach of the Jordanian Government and the airport’s pragmatic support, reinforcing Jordan’s position as one of the Middle East’s most attractive and accessible tourism destinations. Ryanair also unveiled an ambitious investment proposal for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which envisions increasing annual traffic by 360% to reach 3 million seats, operating 50 direct connections from European cities to Jordan, launching new flights to Marka (Amman) Airport, and maintaining year-round services to Aqaba. Ryanair CEO, Eddie Wilson, said, “Ryanair is thrilled to announce the return to full operations to Jordan from Oct, underlined by a record Winter schedule for Amman. MoCA celebrates 9th UDAN Anniversary

Delhi, 23rd October 2025: Ministry of Civil Aviation is celebrating the 9th anniversary of the Regional Connectivity Scheme The main celebration was held in New Delhi, chaired by Secretary (Civil Aviation) and attended by Chairman, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Members, AAI and other senior officers of the Ministry. In his address, Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, highlighted that the UDAN, launched on 21st October 2016 under the National Civil Aviation Policy, has been a transformational initiative aimed at making air travel affordable and accessible to the common citizen. The first UDAN flight, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 27th April 2017 between Shimla and Delhi, marked a new era in regional aviation connectivity. Under the scheme, 649 routes have been operationalized connecting 93 unserved and underserved airports, including 15 heliports and 2 water aerodromes, facilitating over 1.56 crore passengers through 3.23 lakh UDAN flights. To support airline operators and regional infrastructure, the Government has disbursed more than Rs. 4,300 crore as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) and invested Rs. 4,638 crore in airport development under RCS. A key recent initiative has been the introduction of Comprehensive Guidelines for Seaplane Operations in August 2024, and the launch of the UDAN 5.5, a special bidding round for seaplanes and helicopters. Under this round, Letters of Intent have been issued for 150 routes connecting 30 water aerodromes across various coastal and island regions. The Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continue the scheme beyond April 2027 through an Expanded UDAN Framework, focusing on connectivity with hilly, North-Eastern, and aspirational regions, and the development of around 120 new destinations. The UDAN is not just a scheme; it is a catalyst for change and a testament to India’s commitment to making air travel inclusive, sustainable and an integral part of our development journey.

AVPL International’s Hisar gets DGCA nod for Drone RPTO

Hisar,22nd October 2025: The Drone RPTO of AVPL International ( AITMC Ventures Limited) in Sisai, Hisar has received official approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), marking a key milestone for drone training in North India. The RPTO now features 10 dedicated flying zones, offering extensive hands-on training for students. The RPTO offers students hands-on experience in flying and maintaining drones, adhering to national safety and training standards. The RPTO aims to empower young men and women with drone skills for sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, security, and environmental projects, while positioning Hisar as a hub for skill development and employment opportunities. LOT Polish to operate Warsaw to Almaty sector from May 2026 onwards

Warsaw,22 October 2025: LOT Polish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, expands its operations to Central Asia by adding Almaty in southern Kazakhstan to its global route network. From 31 May 2026, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 of the Polish flag carrier with two service classes on board will fly four times a week (every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) from Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) to the Kazakh city at the foot of the Transili Alatau Mountains. LOT Polish Airlines will operate the new route all year round, with three weekly flights during the winter schedule. After the capital Astana, Almaty is now the second destination that LOT Polish Airlines flies to in Kazakhstan. The 6.5-hour overnight flights from Warsaw depart at 22:40h, arriving at Almaty International Airport at 8:00h next day. The return flight to Warsaw departs at 9:20h. “With the new air service and attractive feeder flights, we are setting a further accent in Central Asia,” says Robert Ludera, Registered Representative and Head of Network Planning at LOT Polish Airlines. “Almaty is an important economic centre in Kazakhstan, but also highly interesting from a tourist perspective and at the same time a gateway to the Silk Road.”

Embraer and Mahindra forge SCA to introduce C-390 Millennium to India

New Delhi, October 21, 2025: In a step towards India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, Embraer Defense & Security and Mahindra Group, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement (SCA) to advance the C-390 Millennium solution for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme. This agreement was inked alongside the inauguration of Embraer’s national office in Aerocity, New Delhi. The agreement builds upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2024 at the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi, deepening the scope of cooperation to include joint marketing, industrialisation and developing India as a hub for the C-390 Millennium. Since the signing, the C-390 Millennium aircraft has further increased its operator base globally. Embraer and Mahindra Group will work closely with stakeholders in the country and engage with India’s military and aerospace ecosystem to identify opportunities for local manufacturing, assembly facilities, supply chain and MRO activities. The long-term ambition is to position India as a manufacturing and support hub for the C-390 Millennium aircraft, serving both domestic and regional requirements. This partnership unites Brazil’s world-class aerospace innovation with India’s manufacturing prowess and contributes to the strengthening of ties between the two nations while positioning India as a potential hub for the C-390 Millennium aircraft in the region. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defense & Security said, “The agreement is a significant milestone in our relationship with Mahindra Group. India’s aerospace industry is dynamic and world-class, and together we aim to deliver the most advanced and reliable military transport solution to the Indian Air Force. This partnership is more than an aerospace deal – it reflects our commitment to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and the growing friendship between Brazil and India.” Vinod Sahay, Member of Group Executive Board, Mahindra Group said: “The C-390 Millennium is unmatched in capability, efficiency, and versatility. By deepening our collaboration with Embraer, together we will ensure that the C-390 Millenium for the IAF’s MTA campaign will not only contribute to India’s security and aspirations but also supports the ‘Make in India’ philosophy and further self-reliance.” About C-390 Aircraft The C-390 Millennium is the most modern military transport aircraft in its class and can carry more payload (26 tons) compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft and flies faster (470 knots) and farther. It can perform a wide range of missions including cargo and troop transport, airdrops, medical evacuation, search and rescue], firefighting, and humanitarian operations. It can operate from temporary or unpaved runways. The aircraft can also be configured for air-to-air refuelling, both as a tanker and as a receiver. The current fleet, in operation, has demonstrated a mission completion rate of more than 99%, highlighting exceptional productivity in its category.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
