Global Aerospace Summit 2024 : To propel space sector growth with increased industry representation

Bali, 19th Sept.2024: The Special Dialogue Programme at Bali International Airshow 2024 has concluded its discussion with the final two panel sessions on 19 September 2024. Covering two themes in one day, the dialogues deep dived into Indonesia’s potential in both aviation growth and Sustainability Aviation Fuel (SAF) production. The sessions featured several government bodies and top global players in the aviation field, including Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Transportation, AirAsia, Garuda Indonesia, Boeing, Embraer, InJourney Airports, People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, Indonesia Palm Oil Strategic Studies (IPOSS), PT Tripatra Engineering & Constructors, and PT Pertamina (Persero). Yesterday’s sessions opened with a dialogue titled “Soaring High: Indonesia’s Ascend to Becoming a Global Leading Aviation Market” with key global speakers in the aviation sector, discussing Indonesia’s potential to become the world’s fourth-largest air travel market by 2037. BIAS 2024: Pushing for Carbon-Free Aviation through SAF

CMMAI Indonesia, September 18, 2024: The Bali International Air Show (BIAS) 2024 commenced with a significant panel discussion focused on the decarbonisation of the aviation industry and the advancements of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry. Titled “Global and Regional Collaboration Potential on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF),” the panel provided insights from prominent leaders representing global and regional perspectives on potential collaboration in developing the SAF industry. Leaders that were brought together in this discussion included Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan; Executive Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair; Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and New Ventures of PT Pertamina (Persero), Salyadi Saputra; President Director of Lion Air Group, Daniel Putut Kuncoro; and President of Airbus Asia Pacific, Anand Stanley. The session was moderated by Jalil Rasheed, Asia-Pacific Managing Director of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Coordinating Minister Luhut emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating SAF adoption through a new roadmap and policy action plan. “This roadmap is designed to fast-track sustainable technology adoption in aviation and attract investments to cut carbon emissions,” he stated. He also noted that Indonesia’s initiative aligns with global efforts, as 148 countries have submitted CO2 reduction plans to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and New Ventures at PT Pertamina (Persero), Salyadi Saputra, also emphasized that SAF is a key solution to decarbonise the aviation sector. “The global demand for SAF will continue to increase, and Pertamina has been actively exploring potential resources for SAF feedstocks. We believe SAF will perform well in the global market, making it economically feasible for us.” he explained. From an airline perspective, Daniel Putut Kuncoro of Lion Air Group reiterated the crucial role SAF plays in the decarbonization process of the aviation sector. “Lion Air is ready to work together with the Indonesian government to use SAF as a means to address our concern of climate change while also advancing towards a healthier environment,” Daniel said. Meanwhile, President of Airbus Asia Pacific, Anand Stanley, added that Indonesia has great potential in supporting the decarbonisation of the aviation sector. He also underlined the importance of cross-collaboration between the aviation industry and state governments with energy producers. “We also need to work with energy providers to create SAF supply chains, create and manage feedstock, provide techno-economic studies, and support capabilities for SAF production.” The dialogue underscored Indonesia’s dedication to fostering a more sustainable aviation sector through SAF and showcased its role in global and regional partnerships. With the new roadmap and support from the private sector, Indonesia is positioned to lead in transforming the aviation industry and creating a robust SAF ecosystem. BIAS 2024 is Southeast Asia’s leading aerospace, aerotechnology, and defense exhibition that is organized by the Indonesian government through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU). This year’s event, which runs from September 18-21 and attracts thousands of visitors from 48 countries, also featured the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) as a Knowledge Partner. Boeing and Angkasa Pura Indonesia Collaborate to Enhance Airport Operations

Bali, Indonesia, Sept. 18, 2024: Boeing signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Angkasa Pura Indonesia to explore initiatives aimed at expanding airport capabilities across Indonesia, focusing on improving safety and operational efficiency. Indonesia’s elite pilots to soar high at Bali International Airshow 2024

Jakarta,11th September 2024: The skies over Bali will be filled with exhilarating aerial performances as the renowned Jupiter Aerobatic Team and Neptunus Aerobatic Team, both from Indonesia and solo flying display of F-35A Lightning II from Australia, take to the air from 18 to 21 September 2024 at the Bali International Airshow. This four-day event promises to showcase the precision, skill, and artistry of these elite pilots, captivating spectators with a series of breathtaking displays. The flying displays will be held daily, providing multiple opportunities for attendees to witness incredible performances. The schedule will kick off on 18 September, with the first show set to take off at 10:30 AM Indonesia Central Standard Time (WITA). Subsequent performances for the day are scheduled for 12:30 PM, and 3:30 PM lasting 20 minutes respectively. From September 19 to 21, four flying displays are set to colour the Bali sky from 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM,12:30 PM and 3:30 PM, each lasting 20 minutes. “As Indonesia hosts the Bali International Airshow 2024, we are immensely proud to showcase the exceptional talents of our own Jupiter and Neptunus Aerobatic Teams in the airshow. These flying displays are not just a demonstration of aerial skill and precision but a symbol of our nation’s growing prowess in the aviation and aerospace sectors. The Jupiter Aerobatic Team, part of the Indonesian Air Force, will fly six KT-1B Wongbee aircraft. These planes, painted in vibrant red and white, are equipped with white smoke generators and will perform complex manoeuvres across the Bali skies. The KT-1B Wongbee, with a wingspan of 10.6 metres and a top speed of 350 knots (648.2 km/h), will allow the team to demonstrate their exceptional aerobatic skills, honed through years of international performances at events like the 2023 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) and the 2024 Singapore Airshow. Joining them is the Neptunus Aerobatic Team from the Indonesian Naval Aviation Center, flying six Bonanza G36 light aircraft. Due to the different characteristics of aircraft, the manoeuvres and acrobatics formations performed by the Neptune team differed from those performed by the Jupiter team of the Air Force. However, the Neptunus team will deliver equally exciting and entertaining performances. The Bonanza G36, with a wingspan of 10.12 metres and a top speed of 205 knots (463km/h), has been a crowd favourite at events such as the “Hari Ulang Tahun (HUT) Penerbangan Angkatan Laut (TNI AL) 2016”, the 2017 Indonesia Naval Base Open Day, and the 2018 Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) in Lombok Island. The latter event had 25 countries participating from Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. Taking the sky solo, the F-35A Lightning II will be piloted by the Royal Australian Air Force. The aircraft is at the forefront of air combat technology with advanced sensors and data fusion allowing it to gather and share information faster than ever before. Reaching at a top speed of machs 1.6 (1,960 km/h), it is capable of supersonic flight while retaining stealth. The F-35A has extraordinary acceleration, agility and 9G (gravity force) manoeuvrability. “With the support of both global and local aviation and aerospace industries, the Bali International Airshow will elevate Indonesia’s standing in the global aerospace and defense sectors. By harnessing innovation and the expertise of various stakeholders, we believe that the airshow will catapult Indonesia’s role as a key player on the world stage,” added the Minister. The Bali International Airshow 2024 is not just about exciting aerial displays; it is also a significant event for trade visitors involved in the aviation and aerospace industries. PUBLIC ADMISSION DETAILS The airshow is also open to the public on Public Day, which happens on Saturday, 21 September. DocuBay collaborates with IAF for a gripping documentary on Kargil War

Hosted by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia, and the Indonesia Air Force, the event is set to propel the country to the forefront of the aviation and aerospace industries by leveraging innovation and expertise from key stakeholders. The airshow will attract close to 100 participating companies and 100 hosted delegations from more than 35 countries and regions.Leading up to the Bali Airshow, two major conferences will be held on 17 September 2024, where global leaders and experts will meet to address critical issues in the aerospace industry. These forums will foster bilateral and multilateral relationships between Indonesia and other nations, promoting increased cooperation and collaboration. FORUMS FOR GLOBAL DISCUSSIONS The Asia Pacific Air Transport Forum 2024, titled “Scaling Up Sustainable Aviation Fuels and Integrated Airspace Solutions for a Greener Future,” will explore the future of sustainable aviation. Key discussions will focus on scaling the production and adoption of SAF and integrating advanced air mobility technologies, such as drones and Urban Air Mobility CG systems, into conventional airspace. Furthermore, the Indonesian government is set to unveil its national roadmap for advancing the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) industry and ecosystem in Indonesia during the Airshow. This strategic roadmap underscores Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to sustainable aviation, aiming to achieve Net Zero Aviation by 2050. Simultaneously, the Bali Regional Air and Space Power Forum 2024 will focus on “Security for All: The Future of Aerospace Technology and Its Role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Operations,” addressing the growing challenges of natural disasters in the Asia-Pacific. Experts will discuss integrating advanced aerospace technologies, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, satellites, and C4ISR systems, into HADR operations to improve disaster response effectiveness. Aimed at bringing together key stakeholders from governments, civil aviation authorities, aircraft manufacturers, and other notable industry players alike, to discuss strategies for enhancing the SAF ecosystem and advancing airspace integration. “The integration of sustainable aviation fuels and advanced aerospace technologies into our airspace and disaster response systems is essential. These forums will nite global stakeholders to explore innovative solutions that foster a greener future for aviation and enhance our ability to respond to natural disasters. Moreover, the Bali International Airshow 2024 solidifies its importance by actively urging stakeholders to enhance their dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, one of the first in its kind,” added Mr. Pandjaitan. As part of its groundbreaking approach, the Bali International Airshow actively encourages aviation stakeholders to enhance their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments in developing regions. For instance, the 2024 event has formalised partnerships with Yayasan Care Peduli (CARE Indonesia) and established a significant commitment to handling environmental, health, and social issues for NTT (Nusa Tenggara Timur). In addition, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) has partnered with the government consulting body, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), to become one of the knowledge partners at the Bali Airshow. The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
