Adani Partners with Vesta to Streamline Operations and Enhance Passenger Experience at 7 Airports in India

28th February, 2023; Mumbai: Adani Airports has announced its partnership with Vesta Quality Assurance Platform to streamline operations and improve the passenger experience across its seven airports in India.The partnership aims to enhance customer experience by leveraging Vesta’s technology solutions to capture passenger feedback across all seven airports. This feedback will be analyzed and used to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to provide passengers with a world-class experience. Sharang Majumdar, CEO of Vesta, said, “We are delighted to partner with Adani to revolutionize the passenger experience across their airports. Delhi, 27th February 2023: An Indian Air Force contingent comprising of 110 Air Warriors has arrived at Al Dhafra airbase of United Arab Emirates for participating in Exercise Desert Flag VIII. The IAF would be participating with five LCA Tejas and two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This is the first occasion when the LCA Tejas shall participate in an international flying exercise outside India.Exercise Desert Flag is a multilateral air exercise in which Air Forces from UAE, France, Kuwait, Australia, UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, Republic of Korea, and USA would also be participating. The exercise is scheduled from 27 Feb 23 to 17 Mar 23. The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

IAF to Participate in Exercise Cobra Warrior at Waddington in UK

27th February 2023, New Delhi: An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors departed Air Force Station Jamnagar for participating in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in United Kingdom. The exercise is scheduled from 06 Mar 23 to 24 Mar 23. The Exercise Cobra Warrior is a multilateral Air exercise in which Air Forces from Finland, Sweden, South Africa, United States of America and Singapore would also be participating alongside Royal Air Force and IAF. The IAF is participating in the exercise this year with five Mirage 2000 fighters, two C-17 Globemaster III and an IL-78 mid air refueller aircraft. The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter aircraft engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

Cabinet approves Air Services Agreement between India and Guyana

New Delhi, 23rd Feb 2023: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of the Air Services Agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Co-operative Republic of Guyana. The Air Services Agreement will come into force after the exchange of diplomatic notes between the parties confirming that each party has completed the necessary internal procedure for entry into force of this Agreement. Indians have a sizeable presence in Guyana and are the largest ethnic group comprising about 40% of the population as per 2012 census. The signing of Air Services Agreement with Guyana will enable a framework for provision of air services between the two countries. In view of the growing aviation market and developments such as liberalization of aviation sector in India, air services agreement has been signed with many countries for paving way for International air connectivity. Air Services Agreement (ASA) provides the legal framework for air operations between two countries which is based on the principles of sovereignty of nations, nationality of carriers and reciprocity in terms of commercial opportunities for the designated airlines of each side. At present there is no Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the Government of India and the Government of Co-operative Republic of Guyana at present. India and Guyana are signatories to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention). The delegations representing the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana met in Nassau, Bahamas on 06 December 2016 during the ICAO Air Services Negotiations event where both countries had initialled the text of an ASA for scheduled air services between the two countries in terms of the Memorandum of Understanding dated 06 December 2016 between India and Guyana. The new Air Services Agreement between India and the Co-operative Republic of Guyana will provide enabling environment for enhanced and seamless connectivity while providing commercial opportunities to the carriers of both the sides.

BEL signs MoU with ADA, DRDO, for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme

Bengaluru, February 21, 2023: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed an MoU with Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), DRDO, for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The MoU was announced on the sidelines of the “Bandhan” event held at Aero India 2023. The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft is a 5th Generation, multi-role, all-weather fighter aircraft designed with high survivability and stealth capability. The MoU aims at leveraging the complementary strengths and capabilities of BEL and ADA, wherein both the parties will co-operate for the design, development, qualification, production and supply of Internal Weapon Bay Computer and other LRUs for AMCA and provide lifetime product support to the Indian Air Force.

AirAsia India launches Start of Summer Sale with fares starting at Rs 1400

Mumbai, 21st February, 2023: AIX Connect, operating as AirAsia India, launched its Start of Summer sale with fares starting from Rs1,400 for routes such as Mumbai-Chennai, along with similar special sales fares across its network. Foundation stone of Rewa Airport in MP laid

Delhi, 16th Feb 2023: The Airports Authority of India is undertaking works for revival of the existing airfield and the construction of facilities to operate 19-seater aircraft. AAI will strengthen the existing runway along with the grading of the runway strip area and construct the RESA and the terminal building with a peak hour capacity of 50 passengers. Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with CM Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan, today laid the foundation stone of Rewa Airport in Madhya Pradesh. Rewa Airfield has a runway of 1400 meters with a small building of 150 sq. meters and 61.95 acres of land. It was owned by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh. The State Government has handed over the existing airport to the Airport Authority of India for the revival and construction of facilities to operate 19-seater aircraft.

Defence Secretary meets UK Delegation

Bengaluru, 14th Feb 2023: Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane had a bilateral meeting with UK Minister of State for Defence Procurement Alex Chalk. The meeting was conducted on the side-lines of the Aero India 2023 which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 13 February 2023. A number of ongoing and future defence cooperation issues were discussed including areas for potential defence industrial cooperation. The UK Minister was accompanied by British High Commissioner to India Mr Alex Ellis.

Jyotiraditya Scindia visits Collins India Operations Center (CIOC) in Bengaluru

Bengaluru,14th Feb ,2023: Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia visited Collins India Operations Center (CIOC) at KIADB Aerospace Park in Bengaluru. The Minister met with the Collins’ leadership team and toured the Industry 4.0 designed manufacturing facility. The CIOC – KIADB Aerospace Park site was inaugurated in Dec 2022 together with Collins’ Global Engineering and Technology Center (GETC) in Bangalore as part of a long-term growth strategy for Raytheon Technologies in India and globally to maximize collaboration and innovation providing cutting edge solutions for customers and provide additional STEM-based opportunities in the country. The new CIOC site spans 26 acres across the Hitech Defense and Aerospace Park and will help Collins bring operational synergy and economies of scale, as well as support future growth opportunities and customer requirements. Its Building Management System (BMS) is a connected ecosystem which helps monitor and control air, water, temperature and humidity at critical process points to help maintain product quality with quick issue resolution. The site has also received USGBC Silver and IGBC Gold building certification. The campus is energy efficient with best practices in line with BEE-India and Global Best Management Practices. Collins Aerospace recently commemorated its 25th anniversary of operations in India. “It was a pleasure to be at Collins India, a wonderful facility that is in many ways pushing forward on the new paradigm of aerospace manufacturing in India. In its 25 years of journey, Collins Aerospace is amalgamated across multiple verticals of aerospace manufacturing. It is indeed an honor to be here with the Collins team. I wish Collins all the very best in its endeavor to grow and also contribute to India’s growth in the area of aerospace manufacturing.” said the minister for Collins Aerospace.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.
