IFA Academy expands its fleet with a new ALSIM AL250 simulator

Le Loroux-Bottereau, France,July 29th, 2025 : IFA Academy has chosen ALSIM to enhance its pilot training with the addition of the AL250 simulator at its Viseu base in Portugal. The AL250 simulator addresses the initial phase of training needs (PPL, CPL, IR/ME) and is a SEP/MEP reconfigurable simulator certified as an EASA FNPT II. In addition, it offers both classic and glass cockpits for each flight model at the simple flick of a switch. This device has been extremely well received since its creation and more than 100 units have already been installed and are in successful operation worldwide. IFA’s Group CEO José Madeira, explains, “We selected the ALSIM AL250 for its advanced capabilities and EASA FNPT II certification, recognizing it as a powerful tool for enhancing pilot proficiency, particularly in instrument flight training. This simulator will deliver a fully immersive and highly realistic experience, replicating the flight characteristics of three aircraft types: the Cessna 172, Piper PA28R Arrow, and Piper PA44. Its flexibility in offering both analog and EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) cockpit configurations will also allow our students to seamlessly adapt to diverse flight scenarios and operational standards. The AL250 joins our existing ALSIM FNPT II flight simulator, creating a complementary training ecosystem that elevates our instructional capabilities. Together, these two state-of-the-art devices provide a dynamic and comprehensive simulation environment, ensuring that our students benefit from a broad spectrum of flight experiences aligned with the demands of modern aviation.” Leonardo Rodrigues, Sales Manager at ALSIM, adds, “We’re especially proud to continue our partnership with the Instituto de Formação Aeronáutica, which first chose our simulator for their Cascais facility in 2019. Porter Airlines E195-E2 pilots begin training in Montreal

Montreal, Canada July 28, 2025: Porter and Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) today announced the expansion of the airline’s pilot training operations with the deployment of a state-of-the-art Embraer E195-E2 full-flight simulator (FFS) at CAE’s Montreal training centre. Training began in May 2025 supported by ECTS, a joint venture between Embraer and CAE. The latest generation 7000XR Series FFS, equipped with the advanced CAE Prodigy visual system, was developed and manufactured by CAE in Montreal. This strategic deployment will enable more Porter pilots to train closer to home, supporting the airline’s rapid growth and contributing to the development of skilled aviation jobs in Canada. Comprehensive initial and recurrent training for E2 pilots will be delivered in Montreal. The simulator will enhance Porter’s E2 pilot training program by increasing capacity to meet the demand for its expanding fleet – 46 aircraft have already been delivered, with up to 100 expected. “This partnership with ECTS brings together three leading aviation organizations,” said Kent Woodside, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Porter Airlines. “CAE’s expertise in training and simulation technology ensures our pilots receive the highest quality and safety standards for our pilots operating Embraer’s latest E195-E2 model.” The new E2 FFS is equipped with the CAE Prodigy Image Generator (IG) which leverages Epic Games’ Unreal Engine for more realistic and effective training. CAE Prodigy elevates sessions in the simulator with advanced technology, providing photorealistic renderings and enhanced moving models that result in a more immersive pilot training environment. “We are thrilled to welcome Porter, a new airline partner, to CAE’s training centre in Montreal, and we look forward to supporting their training on the E2 aircraft,” said Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Division President, Commercial Aviation. “Our joint venture with Embraer enables us to elevate aviation safety and training standards by delivering world-class solutions to support the growth of the E195-E2 fleet around the world.” In addition to the new simulator in Montreal, ECTS operates E2 FFS in Singapore and Madrid, Spain. ECTS also provides training on the Phenom family of business jets using FFS at CAE training centres in Dallas, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; Burgess Hill, United Kingdom; São Paulo, Brazil; and Vienna, Austria, where training begins this summer.

Airways Aviation signs LOI for 5 All-Electric eDA40 Aircraft at PAS 2025

Paris Airshow, Le Bourget: Airways Aviation has signed an agreement with Diamond Aircraft to acquire five all-electric eDA40 training aircraft, marking another key milestone in the group’s commitment to sustainable aviation and innovation in pilot training.The agreement was signed during the 2025 edition of the Paris Airshow. “This agreement reinforces our vision to drive sustainability and innovation across all facets of aviation training,” said Romy Hawatt, Founder and Chairman of Airways Aviation. “The eDA40 represents a significant step forward in reducing carbon emissions and operational costs without compromising the high training standards we are known for. We are proud to partner with Diamond Aircraft once again as we pioneer the transition to a greener future in aviation.” The eDA40 will be the first EASA/FAA Part 23 certified all-electric aircraft tailored specifically for the flight training market. Pipistrel Nuuva V300 to make show debut at the Paris Air Show

Paris, 12th June 2025: Pipistrel, a Textron Inc. company will showcase the Nuuva V300 and Pipistrel’s configurable special missions platform, Surveyor at the static display.The company will attend the Paris Air Show from June 16-19 in Le Bourget, Paris, France and these display will be part of the company’s airshow presence. Nuuva V300 The Nuuva V300, a long-range, large-capacity hybrid-electric VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) unmanned (cargo drone) aircraft, successfully completed its first hover flight in January 2025. This milestone marks an advancement in the development of advanced, sustainable and versatile unmanned aerial system (UAS). Designed to carry a 600-pound payload over a range of up to 300 nautical miles, the Nuuva is capable of operating from paved or unimproved surfaces. The aircraft is engineered to load cargo through the nose of the fuselage, simplifying the process for operators and allowing for multiple payload configurations. Built to support a capacity of more than 100 cubic feet, it can hold up to three cargo pallets or be loaded with loose cargo, enhancing its utility for a variety of logistics needs. Surveyor Highlights Pipistrel’s Special Missions Focus Pipistrel’s special missions platform, Surveyor, is trusted across the world by defense, surveillance and civil authorities in multiple configurations. Fully configurable, the Surveyor can be deployed as a piloted, unpiloted aerial vehicle (UAV) or optionally piloted aircraft, offering a cost-effective solution for demanding missions. The Surveyor offers significant mission advantages including a low drag design for the ability to complete long distance, extreme endurance and high-altitude operations together with flexible payload configurations. flydubai launches Ab Initio Pilot Training programme

Dubai, 26th May 2025: flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier had last week announced the launch of its Ab Initio Pilot Training programme, in partnership with international overseas flight training partners. Skyborne and IndiGo conducts largest ever intake under cadet pilot program

Gurgaon,02 April 2025: Skyborne Airline Academy is welcoming 40 new cadets to the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program with Skyborne, after a Letter of Intent (LoI) ceremony in Gurgaon, India. Following a competitive application process, the successful cadets will commence the first phase of their flight training at the academy’s base in Florida, United States, before returning to India for their flight license conversion and type rating. After successfully completing the program, the graduates will go on to fly with India’s leading airline as A320 First Officers. Melstarr Aviations Tech signs MoU with Vector Technorium for the design-build of a state-of-the-art FTO

Embraer and Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation to collaborate on future flight technology

Warsaw, Poland, March 12, 2025: Embraer and Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, Poland based research institute, have signed an agreement to work together on new aircraft technologies and materials. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in Warsaw by Sylwester Wyka – Acting Director of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, and Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer. Łukasiewicz – ILOT is one of Europe’s prominent aviation research facilities for aviation, unmanned and space technologies. Together Łukasiewicz – ILOT and Embraer will begin cooperation by focusing efforts on research and development activities in the fields of materials, future flight technologies, aeronautical design and future maintenance processes. “This MoU marks the beginning of a technological bridge between Poland and South America. Through collaboration with Embraer, we are combining our expertise with a global industry leader to jointly develop cutting-edge aviation and materials technologies. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum visits flydubai’s new Flight Training centre

Dubai,7th February 2025: flydubai’s Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, inspected the new state-of-the-art Flight Training centre which is set to officially open its doors in the coming few weeks. During his visit, the chairman was given a tour of the Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) and Training Facility located on the grounds of the flydubai Campus. The tour included a visit of the briefing/de-briefing rooms, classrooms and high-tech computer-based training rooms as well as the Boeing 737 Full-Flight Simulators (FFS). H. H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, said: “I am pleased to see the flydubai Flight Training centre become a reality today. This is a vital part of flydubai’s growth strategy and reflects its unwavering commitment to innovation, increased operational efficiency and investing in developing its inhouse capabilities to support future plans as well as Dubai’s position as a global hub for aviation.” The new multimillion dollar, 38,000 square feet Flight Training centre is home to six simulator bays, offering a capacity of more than 43,000 training hours a year. The building’s modular construction design allows for future expansion. Two simulators have been installed with two additional simulators to be added to the facility before the end of 2026. The increased flexibility in flydubai’s pilot training schedules and on-demand access to the simulator bays will enable further expansion of the airline’s training capabilities, which can be extended to other airlines in the future.

The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
