CAE to enhance air traffic controller training with CAE Ridge

Hong Kong, December 9, 2025 : CAE has announced that it is expanding the use of CAE Ridge, its proven and advanced 3D visualization tool, to its Air Traffic Services training offering. CAE Ridge enhances Air Traffic Controller training by introducing immersive, collaborative scenarios that accelerate learning and improve operational decision-making. This commercial off-the-shelf solution, already in use in military applications by CAE Defense & Security, is now being leveraged to elevate both civil and defence Air Traffic Services training solutions. CAE Ridge reinforces CAE’s commitment to deliver innovative, digitally powered training tools that can reduce time to licensing, strengthen operational readiness, and support the long-term transformation goals of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and Air Traffic Organizations (ATOs). “CAE Ridge represents a meaningful advancement in preparing tomorrow’s air traffic controllers,” said Emmanuel Levitte, Chief Technology Officer, CAE. “By introducing immersive 3D visualization early in the training process, we help build confidence, competencies and situational awareness faster, increasing the effectiveness of training programs, driving toward an optimal time to licensing.” As global air travel continues to increase and airspace complexity grows, air traffic controllers face increasing demands and challenges. Before advancing to high-fidelity simulators and on-the-job training, they must develop strong mental models of airports, airspace structures, and traffic flows. While advanced training tools for three-dimensional visualization and mission simulation are regular aspects of pilot and mission crew training, similar solutions for air traffic controllers have been limited. CAE Ridge bridges this gap, turning traditional tabletop or more limited computer display training into interactive 3D environments that help instructors and new trainees, as well as qualified controllers, visualize operations, explore scenarios, and rehearse procedures collaboratively. “Our goal is to help ANSPs and training organizations adapt to a rapidly evolving operational landscape,” added Marie-Christine Cloutier, Vice President, Strategy, Business Performance & Marketing, CAE. “CAE Ridge exemplifies the potential of dual-use technologies, and demonstrates how we can combine decades of simulation expertise and immersive synthetic environments to deliver scalable, commercially accessible tools that empower both instructors and learners.” Beyond foundational training, CAE Ridge supports pre-simulator preparation, debriefs, procedure rehearsals, initial learning for transferring qualified controllers, Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) scenario development, and operational reviews. Whether in a classroom, remote sessions, or briefings, CAE Ridge enables organizations to train effectively, respond to change with greater agility, and maintain high standards of safety and performance.

ALSIM signs with Fujairah Aviation Academy in the Middle East

France, November 20th, 2025: ALSIM has added Fujairah Aviation Academy as the first operator of the Airliner in the Middle East, making itself the region’s flight training community. In addition to the Airliner, Fujairah Aviation Academy has also added an AL172 simulator to its fleet. The Airliner is an FNPT II MCC–certified hybrid simulator that combines fly-by-wire and conventional flight controls, offering the ideal platform for APS MCC and MPL Phase II advanced training. Purpose-built around APS MCC learning objectives, it develops key airline competencies such as automation management, crew coordination, leadership, and threat and error management. Its generic airliner design provides greater flexibility and broader skill transfer, ensuring trainees are confidently prepared for airline pilot operations and able to transition smoothly into any type rating, regardless of aircraft type. The ALSIM AL172 is a replica of the Cessna 172SP Skyhawk with original Garmin G1000 NXI. It also comes with the latest generation image generator (VFR-VS), a GFC™ 700 autopilot, and a force feedback system that ensures enhanced realism. The AL172 model is designed for PPL, CPL and IR/SE training in compliance with current regulatory standards of EASA FNPT II, FAA AATD/FTD 5 and Transport Canada FTD Level 2 with IPC capability. “After evaluating several options, we selected ALSIM because of its strong reputation for reliability, support and realistic flight models. The AL172 is an excellent fit for our single-engine training fleet and allows us to replicate our Cessna 172 environment with a very high level of fidelity, which is essential for ab-initio and instrument training. The ALSIM Airliner simulator provides an advanced platform for MCC, jet orientation and airline-style procedures training. Its flexible configuration, high-quality visuals and robust instructor operating station support our goal of preparing cadets for a smooth transition to airline operations. In addition, ALSIM’s responsive technical support, comprehensive maintenance philosophy and continuous software/hardware upgrades were key factors in our decision, as they ensure long-term value and minimum downtime for our training programs.” declares Captain Jose Sebastian, Compliance Monitoring Manager at Fujairah Aviation Academy.” Audrey Jeffroy, Sales and Marketing Director at ALSIM, states: “Since 2006, with the acquisition of their first AL42, followed in 2012 by an ALX, FUJAA and Captain Yalha have shown us continuous and invaluable trust. Today, with the addition of an AL172 and an Airliner, their fleet now spans our entire product range, reflecting their bold and visionary decision to embrace each of our developments. We are especially delighted to welcome our very first Airliner in the UAE region, bringing the total number of Airliner orders worldwide to 15. This new milestone confirms the strength of our partnership with Captain Yalha and the strategic importance of FUJAA in ALSIM’s journey.”
