Aviator Finland appoints Minna Virmajoki as Managing Director

Sweden, 18th June 2026: Aviator Airport Alliance, a full-range provider of aviation services and part of Avia Solutions Group, has appointed Minna Virmajoki as Managing Director of its Finnish operations. Virmajoki, who joined Aviator Finland in 2023 as Finance Director and most recently served as Interim Managing Director, steps into the role with a strong background in finance and business leadership. Before entering aviation, Virmajoki built a long and diverse career across other industries, gaining broad leadership, finance and business experience. Since joining Aviator in 2023, she has worked closely with the company’s teams and customers in Finland, taking on growing responsibility before stepping up to lead the operation. “Aviator’s motto ‘For every take-off’ reflects our commitment to reliability, safety, and teamwork in everything we do. Every flight depends on the work we deliver on the ground, and that responsibility is something we take great pride in,” Virmajoki said. “My focus will be on strengthening our operational excellence, developing our people, and building an open, collaborative culture where continuous improvement is part of our everyday work. Diamond Aircraft and FlySight integrate OPENSIGHT mission console for Eurosatory 2026

Paris, June 18, 2026: Diamond Aircraft and FlySight announced the integration of FlySight’s OPENSIGHT Mission Console onboard Diamond Aircraft platforms, now fully operational and flying on board the aircraft that will be showcased at Eurosatory 2026.As part of this integration, the aircraft OE-FHQ equipped with the OPENSIGHT Mission Console is already flying over Paris, where it is currently on display this week as part of Diamond Aircraft’s presence at Eurosatory. The Diamond Aircraft platform will take to the skies with the fully integrated OPENSIGHT turnkey Mission Console solution onboard, delivering real-time mission visualization, sensor integration, and advanced geospatial intelligence during flight operations. Flyadeal ranks as the most On-Time Airline in the Middle East in May 2026

Jeddah,18th June 2026:  flyadeal, the Saudia Group’s LCC has been ranked the most on-time airline in the Middle East for May 2026 and the second most on-time airline across the Middle East & Africa region. This is according to the latest On-Time Performance (OTP) Report published by Cirium, a aviation analytics company.As per the report, flyadeal achieved 93.37% on-time arrival rate and a 95.61% on-time departure rate during May. The results are based on 5,449 flights operated by flyadeal during May 2026 and reflect the airline’s continued commitment to delivering a dependable travel experience for its growing number of passengers. Capt. Abdulaziz Bahri, Chief Operating Officer, flyadeal commented: Being recognised by Cirium as the most on time airline in the Middle East is a tremendous achievement for flyadeal and a testament to the dedication of our people. Hong Kong Air Cargo appoints Aeroprime Group as Cargo GSSA Agent for Delhi

New Delhi, 18th June 2026 : Hong Kong Air Cargo has appointed Aeroprime Group as its Cargo General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) for Delhi, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to expanding its cargo presence in the Indian market and strengthening trade connectivity between India, Hong Kong, and key international destinations. Under the agreement, Aeroprime will be responsible for cargo sales, marketing, customer engagement, and business development activities for Hong Kong Air Cargo’s operations in Delhi. The partnership aims to capitalize on the growing demand for air cargo services between India and East Asia, while providing customers with enhanced access to Hong Kong Air Cargo’s extensive network and cargo capacity. Defence production soars to a record Rs 1.78 lakh crore in FY 2025-26: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, 18th June 2026: India’s annual defence production has surged to an all-time high of Rs 1.78 lakh crore in the Financial Year (FY) 2025-26. The milestone represents a 15.6% growth over the previous fiscal year’s output of Rs 1.54 lakh crore and a staggering 110% increase since FY 2020-21 when the figure was Rs 84,643 crore. The indigenous defence production has increased almost four times from Rs 43,746 crore in FY 2013-14. Defence Public Sector Undertakings and other PSUs accounted for approximately 76% of total production, while the private sector contributed 24%, which is a rise from 22% in FY 2024-25. The share of the private sector is at its all-time high of around Rs 42,000 crore in FY 2025-26, reflecting its expanding role in the defence ecosystem. The growth in defence production over the years has tremendously contributed in achieving the record defence exports of Rs 38,424 crore in FY 2025-26. The achievement reflects the growing momentum of the Government’s push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In a post on X, Raksha Mantri  Rajnath Singh credited the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi for taking India’s defence production to newer heights, and lauded the collective efforts of the Department of Defence Production and public & private sectors for achieving the landmark. He highlighted that the upward trajectory is a clear indicator of the country’s expanding defence industrial base. With sustained policy support, several new initiatives, increased private sector participation, and growing export capabilities, the defence production sector is poised for continued acceleration in the years ahead, he added. SolitAir appoints ATC as dangerous goods training partner

Dubai, June 18, 2026: SolitAir, the UAE’s next-generation dedicated B2B airport-to-airport cargo airline, has appointed Dubai-based Aviation Training Center (ATC) as its preferred training services provider for dangerous goods (DG). The appointment is designed to equip SolitAir’s growing team with the latest approaches, techniques and competencies in the handling and transport of dangerous goods (DG) – acategory of cargo that is both commercially significant and among the most tightly regulated in the industry. The collaboration marks an important step toward strengthening the UAE’s aviation ecosystem, supporting its position as a global hub for safe, efficient and innovative air cargo operations. The transport of dangerous goods by air is governed by a strict, IATA-enforced framework of compliance obligations, revised annually to reflect emerging risks and evolving cargo profiles. The 67th edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, mandatory from 1 January 2026, introduced significant updates across lithium battery shipment requirements, revised state variations and standardised operator variation wording. Hamdi Osman, Founder & CEO, SolitAir said: “The revised requirements enforced by IATA changes underline the need for rigorous, current-edition training across airline operations teams. The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
