Toulouse,France, 29th May 2025: Liebherr-Aerospace has announced its participation for the first time in Air Cargo Europe From June 2 to 5, 2025. This event is marked as one of the most important exhibition and conference for the global air cargo industry. Liebherr team will showcase at booth no. 278 the Class F Cargo Conversion,a quick solution to convert passenger to freighter cargo aircraft that has been developed and certified by LHColus Technologia Ltda in São José dos Campos (Brazil).Liebherr is responsible for the global distribution of the kit, excluding Brazil, through its worldwide customer services network, whichprovides sales and technical support. The Class F Cargo Conversion is implemented by means of a simple, fast, and fully reversible modification ofthe aircraft cabin. The ground time required to convert the aircraft in either direction is just a small fraction of a classic cargo conversion of a narrow-body aircraft. After its certification by ANAC, the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency, the solution’s efficiency and reliability had been field-proven with a sizeable Embraer E190 fleet operating for over two years in Latin America. More than 20,000 flight hours have been already accumulated and over 16 million packages equivalent to 35,000 tons of payload have been transported. The solution is currently being certifiedby the FAA, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, for Embraer E190 aircraft and can be extended to other single aisle aircraft types. “We are excited about our participation in Air Cargo Europe 2025 to showcase such an easy, fully reversible and cost-effective solution and discuss upcoming business opportunities”, commented Joël Cadaux, Director Business and Services of Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS.

Asia Pacific Airlines April 2025 traffic results

Kuala Lumpur, 29th May 2025: Preliminary April 2025 traffic figures released today by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) revealed further growth in both international passenger and air cargo markets, despite softening global economic conditions and persistent trade frictions. Asia Pacific airlines collectively carried 31.3 million international passengers in April, a 10.5% year-on-year increase. Demand, as measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), rose by 12.6%, reflecting continued strength in long-haul travel. With available seat capacity expanding by 11.7% year-on-year, the international passenger load factor rose by 0.7 percentage points to an elevated 82.4% for the month. While the global manufacturing sector faced increased challenges amid uncertainties over tariff disputes, air cargo demand in April was supported by the advance loading of shipments on selected routes and the rerouting of goods to alternative gateways. As a result, international air cargo demand, measured in freight tonne kilometres (FTK), grew by 4.9% year-on-year, slightly outpacing the 4.2% rise in offered freight capacity. Consequently, the international freight load factor edged 0.4 percentage points higher to 61.5% compared to the same month last year. Commenting on the results, Subhas Menon, AAPA Director General, said, “Asia Pacific airlines carried a total of 127 million international passengers in the first four months of 2025, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The sustained recovery in international tourist arrivals, bolstered by continued route network expansions, reflects the resilience of travel markets. The growth comes despite mounting macroeconomic headwinds, which contributed to a downward revision of the global GDP growth forecast to 2.8% for the year.” “Correspondingly, international air cargo demand recorded a 5% increase during the first four months of the year, even as consumers and businesses faced heightened uncertainty due to tariff disputes. This environment contributed to advance purchases and stockpiling activity in anticipation of potential cost increases.” Looking ahead, Subhas Menon said, “The trade disputes and softening macroeconomic conditions may signal challenging times for air travel and cargo markets in the months ahead. This will place further strain on already thin profit margins in the airline industry. Overall, the region’s carriers remain vigilant, actively monitoring market developments and ready to adapt swiftly to evolving conditions.”

SITA new satellite connectivity service keeps airports online

Geneva, 28th May 2025: In an industry where every second of downtime can disrupt passengers and delay operations, a new satellite service is helping airports and airlines stay connected, no matter what. With the launch of SITA Managed Satellites, airports around the world can now maintain vital communication at all times, even during blackouts, natural disasters, or in the most remote or infrastructure-limited locations. The fully managed service is now available in over 130 countries, offering primary, secondary, and emergency connectivity options tailored specifically for the air transport industry. It takes advantage of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites to deliver secure, high-bandwidth, low-latency communications that keep airport systems running continuously. This is also the case when other networks are struggling or completely offline. SITA Managed Satellites doesn’t only support regular networks that are in high demand. Recent global events have shown just how vulnerable traditional fiber and terrestrial networks can be. From earthquakes to extreme weather and fiber cuts, many airports, large and small, have experienced partial or complete outages. Even in major hubs, network congestion during peak periods can strain bandwidth and disrupt key services. SITA’s new satellite solution addresses these risks directly, giving airport and airline teams a way to keep operations running when it matters most. SITA Managed Satellites provides a fast, cost-effective way to deploy connectivity wherever it’s needed, including off-airport locations, aircraft maintenance hangars, cargo hubs, and even remote sites without existing digital infrastructure. It also unlocks temporary service for new route openings, seasonal operations, or rapid emergency deployments. This makes sure that ground crews and systems are never out of touch. “The quality and availability of the latest satellite technology means that it’s becoming a vital component within high availability networks. Airports, in particular, need new ways to ensure they can maintain critical operations in whatever circumstances they face – even when adverse incidents strike,” said Martin Smillie, Senior Vice President, Communications and Data Exchange at SITA. “Delivering high-speed internet connectivity via established satellite providers, SITA Managed Satellites allows customers to optimize operational performance. SITA Managed Satellites is an innovative solution to keep all parts of the aviation industry connected to vital platforms – even in the most challenging of times – and can be adapted for other transport sectors and markets also. It delivers a blend of availability and cost-effectiveness to optimize investments in any cloud, on-premises or hybrid computing environment.” SITA’s global team provides 24/7 monitoring, installation, maintenance, and support. The solution also integrates with other SITA connectivity services, offering customers a flexible, bundled approach to network resilience. Key features include: • A secure, aviation-specific satellite service that meets industry regulations • Full lifecycle management and support in over 130 countries • Proactive infrastructure monitoring to resolve issues before they impact operations • Optional bundling with other SITA airport connectivity solutions • Expert on-site support for surveys, setup, ongoing maintenance, and hardware replacement With aviation more reliant than ever on uninterrupted digital operations, SITA Managed Satellites gives customers the confidence and tools they need to keep critical systems live, even in the most unpredictable conditions.
