IAG Cargo launches direct routes from Madrid to Dallas and Washington DC

6th June 2022; India : IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), touched down in Dallas and Washington DC on 1st June 2022 from Madrid Barajas airport, marking the inaugural routes with the welcoming of a water cannon salute to commemorate the significance of both new routes. The new routes will be utilising the belly capacity of an Iberia Airbus A332 aircraft, four times a week from Madrid Barajas airport, with the capacity to hold c. 20 tonnes of cargo. These two new routes add to over 120 weekly connections between Spain and the USA, with flights already departing twice a day to New York and Miami from Madrid. The additional routes act as a gateway to other American destinations by truck. Pravin Singh, Vice President Commercial, Americas at IAG Cargo commented: “It is always exciting to see IAG Cargo launch a new route, so two new routes between Madrid and the USA is even better and provides our customers with further opportunities to move their cargo between the regions. The launch of the new routes between Madrid and Dallas and Madrid and Washington DC highlights IAG Cargo’s commitment to offering our customers accessibility into new markets and expanding our wide-body network across the globe.” IAG Cargo continues to strengthen its presence in the West now offering 8 destinations into the USA from Madrid including New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, Dallas and San Francisco. Cathay Pacific Cargo introduces a suite of Priority options for time-sensitive shipments

Delhi, 19 May 2022: Cathay Pacific Cargo is introducing a suite of Priority options, offering dedicated booking tiers tailored to cargo shipments. Priority provides greater choice and better-defined service options to customers: speed, capacity and assurance for every shipment.This service will also be available in the UAE besides the airlines’ other ports. The Priority solution offers three service tiers – First (PR1), Essential Plus (PR2) and Essential (PR3). For general cargo shipments, customers can choose the tier best suited to their needs. In addition, the First (PR1) and Essential Plus (PR2) service tiers have been extended and are now applicable to all types of shipments requiring special handling, including but not limited to Pharma LIFT, Fresh LIFT and DG LIFT. First (PR1) First (PR1) is the premium tier that offers the highest commitment to priority for customers’ time-critical shipments. This includes access to capacity even on very high-demand flights, with guaranteed uplift once the booking is confirmed. And in the event of unforeseen disruption, such as from bad weather, the shipment will be protected on to the next flight to make up valuable time. To shorten the journey time further, late shipment acceptance and early shipment retrieval are available when applicable, while customers can access Cathay Pacific Cargo’s 24/7 Operations Control Centre for enquiries and support through a Live Chat function. Essential Plus (PR2) and Essential (PR3) Essential (PR3) is the standard service, providing a reliable and economical solution to bring all kinds of shipments to where they are needed through the Cathay Pacific network and via its professional handling services. Essential Plus (PR2) is an upgraded service, providing more access to capacity on popular flights and with a higher handling priority than Essential. Cathay Pacific Cargo launches new cargo-booking platform ‘Click & Ship’ in South Asia

Mumbai, December 8, 2021: Cathay Pacific Cargo is launching Click & Ship, its new digital booking platform, progressively across its network starting this month. Click & Ship promises booking transparency and speed, day and night. Customers in South Asia, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can view prices and capacity, and book cargo with instant confirmation in just three steps through the intuitive booking interface. DHL Express orders first-ever all-electric cargo planes from Eviation

India, August3, 2021: DHL Express and Eviation, the Seattle-area based global manufacturer of all-electric aircraft, announced the first order of 12 fully electric Alice eCargo planes from Eviation. With this engagement DHL aims to setup an unparalleled electric Express network and make a pioneering step into a sustainable aviation future. IAI to Establish World’s First Passenger to Freighter Conversion Site in Europe

July 5, 2021- Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI)Aviation Group has agreed to establish a passenger to freighter conversion site to convert the Boeing 737-700/800 with Atitech company, at Atitech’s leading MRO center in Naples, Italy; this, following the rise in demand for cargo aircraft of this model. The cargo conversion site in Italy will join two existing cargo conversion sites in China. Atitech MRO is a global company with extensive experience in aviation and is certified by the Federal Administration Agency (FAA Part 145) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA Part 145). The MRO center will supply solutions in maintenance and aircraft renovation, converting passenger aircraft to cargo configuration. In addition, it will provide training and support in licensing and registration. The establishment of the center is a testament to IAI’s growing impact around the world. President of Atitech, Gianni Lettieri said, “By signing this contract with IAI we will restart the high-tech activity done when the North Capodichino Plant, today Atitech, belonged to Aeronavali Venice and specialized in conversion of DC8-DC10-MD10-MD1. I am personally glad to see Atitech expanding its services portfolio with this new very high-tech product, in line with the strategy of the company targeting to make the Italian National MRO (Polo delleManutenzioni). DHL Express launches non-contact delivery in India

Mumbai, July 1st, 2021: DHL Express, the international express service provider launched OTP-based non-contact delivery service in India, making it the first international logistics player to offer this service in the country.The launch of the non-contact delivery service will help to ensure maximum employee and customer safety, amidst the new normal. Interim Cargo Domestic Terminal Commissioned At Rajahmundry Airport

25th June 2021, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh After a long wait domestic air cargo terminal at Rajahmundry Airport in Andhra Pradesh got finally commissioned on 25th June 2021. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the national aviation regulator issued the security clearance to operate the cargo terminal at the airport. The air cargo terminal will be operated by AAI Cargo Logistics & Allies Services Company Limited (AAICLAS) , a Subsidiary of Airports Authority of India. Initially, IndiGo airlines will handle Cargo operations to various destinations from Rajahmundry Airport. On the first day of its operation, consignment of 5000 doses Covid-19 Vaccine (Covaxin) were received as first Inbound cargo from Hyderabad and auto spare parts as first outbound cargo booked for Hyderabad. This Cargo Terminal will help to boost the economy of Trade and Industry of East & West Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Manoj Kumar Nayak, Airport Director, Rajahmundry Airport said, “This cargo terminal will help in boosting up of trade & industry further enhancing the overall economy of East & West Godavari Districts. It will provide direct benefit to the local farmers as well as generate avenues for the direct / indirect employment in the region. In addition, it will generate revenue for AAI as well as AAICLAS. Mr. Manoj Nayak further added, “Due to strategic location of Rajahmundry Airport, the new cargo terminal will facilitate convenient transfer of various perishable and non-perishable cargo all accross India”.

IAG CARGO CONTINUES AID EFFORT TO INDIA WITH FLIGHT CARRYING MEDICAL SUPPLIES

•IAG Cargo and its sister airline British Airways partners with charities including Oxfam, Khalsa Aid and Christian Aid to fly emergency equipment •Boeing 777-200 aircraft full of critical care equipment, PPE and oxygen concentrators •Fuel partner, Air bp supported the flight and IAG Cargo and British Airways have ensured the flight is carbon offset Monday 24 May 2021: IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG) and its sister airline British Airways has transported further aid to India for the second time in two weeks. The total weight of the cargo-only flight was 18 tonnes, made up of five thousand pieces of urgent medical aid as the crisis continues to grip India. The B777-200 was loaded with PPE supplies and oxygen concentrators for frontline hospital workers from charities including Oxfam, Khalsa Aid, Christian Aid and LPSUK. The flight departed London-Heathrow at 5pm on Friday 21 May and landed in Delhi at 05:45 am (local time) on Saturday 22nd May. IAG Cargo and British Airways has worked with fuel partner, BP to ensure the flight is carbon offset. John Cheetham, Chief Commercial Officer at IAG Cargo said: “We all have a part to play in the continued fight against COVID-19, and I am grateful that we are able to support our Indian friends again with a further 26 tonnes of urgent medical aid during this very difficult time. “I am hugely grateful to all those who have worked hard to make this second relief flight to India happen – IAG Cargo will continue to work with our partners to support India with much needed medical equipment.” IAG Cargo and British Airways have continued to keep a vital air link open between London and India throughout the pandemic, sending aid on scheduled flights, but this is a special charter that has been funded by British Airways and IAG Cargo.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
