Gissan signs MOU with Clearvision during WDS Riyadh 2024

Riyadh,Feb 2024: At the recently held World Defense Show held in Riyadh, Gissan Company signed a memorandum of understanding with ClearVision digital solutions and consulting company, aiming to enhance the development of new technologies for research and development. ‏In the areas of their mutual interests, the scope of the MoU includes, the enhancement of monitoring and governance technologies of both IT infrastructure and applications, in addition to providing data and studies to identify and allocate digital advancements to keep pace with the national vision for this path. Star Air to start flights from Ajmer to Hindon

Bengaluru,5th February 2024: Star Air has announced the launch of flights from Ajmer (Kishangarh) to Hindon (Ghaziabad) commencing from 16th February 2024 onwards. The route will be operated by Embraer E175 with dual class configuration – 12 luxurious business class seats and 64 Economy seats.The flights between Ajmer and Hindon will operate on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Capt. Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air, expressed his enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “We are excited to introduce this new sector, which not only facilitates easier travel for our passengers but also strengthens the ties between these two dynamic and historically rich cities. UNO Technology commences its first-ever project in India with ATC Cabin at Noida International Airport

Airways Aviation ESMA and IAAG to Showcase Strategic Partnership in SFMA

Global, 5th Feb 2024: Airways Aviation ESMA and IAAG – Institut Aéronautique Amaury de la Grange joined forces as exhibitors at the Salon des Formations et des Métiers Aéronautiques. This collaborative presence marks the celebration and commencement of the strategic partnership announced last January, uniting two distinguished institutions in the aviation training sector. Airways Aviation also officially launched Airways Aviation ESMA Pilot and Cabin Crew courses in Paris and in La-Motte-au-Bois (Lille) and IAAG Maintenance technician courses in Montpellier. The official process will start with the Civil Aviation Authorities in the current month and we expect to have the first courses in September. Air India appoints Ravindra Kumar G.P. as CHRO

Gurugram,2nd February 2024: Air India today announced the appointment of Ravindra Kumar G.P. as Chief Human Resources Officer, reporting to CEO & MD Campbell Wilson.Ravi will formally assume the role on 1 April 2024, succeeding Dr Suresh Dutt Tripathi who is retiring. Following a long career with General Electric Company, the last four years of which as CHRO for South Asia, Ravi joins from Tata Motors Limited where he has held the role of President & CHRO since 2018. Announcing the transition, Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD of Air India, said: “We are delighted to have Ravi join the Air India team, and we look forward to his contribution to the next phase of our transformation journey. At the same time as welcoming Ravi, we acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Suresh who, upon Air India’s privatization, answered the call and has played a vital role over the last two years. Air Astana grows its fleet to 50 aircraft

20th January 2024, Singapore: The Air Astana Group fleet has grown to 50 aircraft following today’s arrival of a new Airbus A321 neo from the assembly line in Hamburg, Germany. The latest A321neo cabin combines existing business class and new “Airspace Cabin” economy class, which offers more seats, larger overhead lockers and a “moonlight” cabin lighting system ,that was previously only featured on the airline’s long-haul aircraft. The expansion of the fleet reflects Air Astana’s strategy to grow its fleet to 80 aircraft by the end of 2028 and commitment to continuous industry leadership.

INDIAN AIR FORCE AN-32(K-2743)

New Delhi, 13th Jan 2024: An Indian Air Force An-32 aircraft (registration K-2743), had gone missing over the Bay of Bengal on 22 July 2016 during an op mission. 29 Personnel were on board this flight. Large scale Search and Rescue operations by aircraft and ships could not locate any missing personnel or the aircraft debris. The National Institute of Ocean Technology which functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, had recently deployed an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) with deep sea exploration capability at the last known location of the missing An-32. This search was conducted at a depth of 3400 m using multiple payloads, including a multi-beam SONAR (Sound Navigation and Ranging), synthetic aperture SONAR and high resolution photography. Analysis of search images had indicated the presence of debris of a crashed aircraft on the sea bed approximately, 140 nautical miles (approx. 310 Km) from the Chennai coast. The search images were scrutinised and found to be conforming with an An-32 aircraft. This discovery at the probable crash site, with no other recorded history of any other missing aircraft report in the same area, points to the debris as possibly belonging to the crashed IAF An-32 (K-2743).

DRDO conducts successful flight-test of New Generation AKASH missile off Odisha coast

New Delhi, 13th Jan 2024: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight-test of the New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha at 1030 hrs on January 12, 2024. The flight-test was conducted against a high-speed unmanned aerial target at very low altitude. During the flight-test, the target was successfully intercepted by the weapon system and destroyed. It has validated the functioning of the complete weapon system consisting of the missile with indigenously developed Radio Frequency Seeker, Launcher, Multi-Function Radar and Command, Control & Communication system. The system performance was also validated through the data captured by a number of Radars, Telemetry and Electro Optical Tracking System deployed by ITR, Chandipur. The flight-test was witnessed by senior officials from DRDO, Indian Air Force (IAF), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The AKASH-NG system is a state-of-the-art missile system capable of intercepting high speed, agile aerial threats. The successful flight test has paved the way for User trials. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has complimented the DRDO, IAF, PSUs and the Industry for the flight-test. The successful development of the system will further enhance the air defence capabilities of the country, he said. Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat also congratulated the teams associated with the successful flight test of AKASH-NG.

Ayodhya Airport notified as an Int. Airport and named “Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham”

5th Jan 2024, Ayodhya: The Union Cabinet chaired by the PM has approved the proposal to declare Ayodhya Airport as an International Airport and naming it as “Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham”. Elevating Ayodhya Airport to international status is paramount for realizing Ayodhya’s economic potential and its significance as a global pilgrimage site, opening doors to foreign pilgrims and tourists. The airport’s name, “Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham,” pays homage to Maharishi Valmiki, the sage attributed to composing the epic Ramayana, adding a cultural touch to the airport’s identity. Ayodhya, with its deep cultural roots is strategically positioned to become a key economic hub and pilgrimage site. The airport’s potential to attract international pilgrims and businesses aligns with the city’s historical prominence.

The current edition of Aviation World has covered many areas of Aerospace & Defence based on the latest development in the sector. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .

There are features on Regional connectivity and MoCA revised rules on the UDAN 2.0 and how its going to transform the flying experience within India.
