AAPA responds to EU ETS review proposal

Kuala Lumpur,29th July 2026: The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has responded to the European Commission’s 17 July 2026 proposal regarding the review of the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). While welcoming targeted provisions, the association has strongly cautioned against unilateral expansions that conflict with established global frameworks. In a statement, AAPA said that they welcome the Commission’s decision to maintain the ‘stop the clock’ on applying EU ETS to the full length of international flights, and the additional support proposed for sustainable aviation fuels. However, we share the concerns raised by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which noted that a unilateral expansion of the EU ETS for aviation would be inconsistent with the objective of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), the only global market-based measure applying to CO2 emissions from international aviation, and risks duplicative measures. CORSIA was approved by ICAO Member States in 2016. AAPA believes that a unilateral, regional extension of EU ETS risks setting a precedent for fragmented, extraterritorial climate measures that could undermine this multilateral framework over time. The association mentioned that they encourage the European Parliament, Council and Commission, as this proposal is negotiated in the months ahead, to reaffirm their support for CORSIA and the integrity of the global, consensus-based approach it represents. Further, they will continue to monitor this proposal as it moves through the EU legislative process and engage constructively with European institutions and ICAO on behalf of our member airlines.”

Four HAVELSAN Capabilities Successfully Complete NATO CWIX 2026 AV&V Testing

Ankara, Türkiye | July 23, 2026 At NATO’s Coalition Warrior Interoperability eXploration, eXperimentation, eXamination, eXercise , held annually in Poland, HAVELSAN successfully completed the Assurance Verification and Validation tests under the NATO certification process with four of its capabilities. DOOB-HQ, KAPI, Embedded NONC2 ATA DLP, and successfully completed the dedicated AV&V tests conducted to verify their interoperability with the NATO Federated Mission Networking specifications, thereby advancing within the NATO certification process. During the CWIX Exercise, where the interoperability of national command and control information systems with NATO, Allied, and Partner Nation systems is tested, completing the AV&V tests against the FMN Spiral 4 specifications—an important prerequisite for participation in NATO missions conducted between 2025 and 2027—once again demonstrated the maturity and capability of HAVELSAN’s solutions. HAVELSAN has been an active participant in the CWIX Exercise since 2012 with the capabilities it has developed. The company previously successfully completed AV&V testing with DOOB and KÂŞİF in 2019; ADVENT CMS and ADVENT MARTI in 2023; KARTAL and NONC2 ATA DLP in 2024; and DOOB-HQ, DOOB-TACTICAL, KÂŞİF, OCTOPUS, NONC2 ATA DLP, and TDLYM in 2025. The participating systems included ADVENT KALYON, ADVENT UFUK, ADVENT TALAY/REI, DOOB-HQ, DOOB-MOBILE, KÂŞİF, CBRN, OCTOPUS, KAPI, NONC2 ATA DLP, Embedded NONC2 ATA DLP, LYNX, I-SMART, FIVE, RTaaS, and ICS SENTINEL. This year also marked the first participation of several HAVELSAN capabilities in new focus areas: LYNX and Embedded NONC2 ATA DLP in the AIR Focus Area, ADVENT TALAY/REI in the GEOMETOC Focus Area, KAPI in the FMN Core Services Focus Area, IC SENTINEL in the CYBER Focus Area, and FIVE in the Modeling & Simulation Focus Area. Turkish Airlines Signs Multi-Year Agreement with CAE

Turkish Airlines, the airline that flies to more countries than any other airline, has signed a contract with CAE, a global leader in aviation training technologies, at the Farnborough Airshow for the delivery of five full-flight simulators (FFS), two flight training devices (FTD) with an option for two additional FFSs. The agreement further supports Turkish Airlines’ strategy to expand pilot training capacity and strengthen its training infrastructure with the latest technologies, in line with the airline’s fleet growth under its 10-year flight training investment plan. It will also contribute to the airline’s new, state-of-the-art Flight Training Center, which broke ground this past January. The new facility’s simulator hangars are scheduled to become operational in 2027, with the full center set to be completed and fully operational in 2028. Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Murat Şeker said: “As we continue to expand our fleet and global network, further strengthening our pilot training infrastructure is essential to supporting our long-term growth strategy. Air India selects new JFK terminal 6 for future operations

JFK Millennium Partners , the company selected by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to build and operate John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new world-class Terminal 6, and Air India, India’s leading global airline, today announced that the airline has chosen T6 for its operations beginning in 2028. The move aligns Air India with other Star Alliance member carriers in the new terminal and marks another major airline commitment to T6, which has now been selected by 16 leading  international carriers at JFK. Saab and Embraer strengthen partnership with agreement to expand Gripen production capacity

Saab and Embraer today announced the signing of a Heads of Agreement that provides a framework for the potential production of 20 additional Gripen aircraft at Embraer’s industrial complex in Gavião Peixoto, the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Anduril unveiled Thunder, the defense variant of the platform, on Monday at the Farnborough International Airshow. Archer Technology Stack This new dual-use autonomous VTOL aircraft platform, highlighted by its Halo and Thunder variants, builds on eight years of eVTOL development and flight testing by Archer. It features a clean-sheet design, bringing the commercial VTOL sector’s rapid innovation in electric propulsion and rotor design directly into a performance-optimized configuration. At the core of the platform is innovation in hybrid-electric powertrain and optimum-speed tiltrotors: Hybrid-Electric Powertrain: A series hybrid-electric powertrain enables Halo to achieve significant range and endurance, while closely optimizing power through the full range of flight conditions.
