World Aviation Festival announces finalists for 2025 start-up competition

Lisbon,October 3rd 2025: World Aviation Festival (WAF), one of the industry’s leading global gatherings for airlines, airports, and travel technology, has announced the five finalists for its highly anticipated Start-up Pitch Competition. The live final will take place on 7th October at 15:50 on the main stage at the FIL Lisbon conference centre. The competition, a highlight of the Festival’s Start-up Village initiative, provides a platform for early-stage disruptors to showcase their innovations to more than 4,500 senior executives from across aviation and travel. Each finalist will pitch their solution to a panel of industry leaders and investors, competing for recognition as one of aviation’s most promising new ventures. FAST seminar highlights inclusivity, sustainability, and responsible tourism as key to India’s accelerated tourism growth

New Delhi, September 28, 2025: The Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST) organized a seminar on tourism growth with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The seminar brought together senior policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to deliberate on strategies for accelerating India’s tourism growth amid global and domestic challenges.This year the seminar theme was “Current Domestic & Global Challenges and Roadmap for India’s Accelerated Tourism Growth”. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Minister of Tourism, Government of India extended his support and congratulations for the FAST seminar with his message where he highlighted the transformative potential of tourism in India driven by digital technologies and post-pandemic revival, emphasizing the need for focus and innovation to make the coming decade a ‘golden era of inbound tourism’. The seminar Guest of Honour was Smt. Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, ITDC, who emphasised on the critical role of tourism in contributing to the nation’s GDP growth and building a “$30 trillion economy” by 2047. She stressed that tourism’s true success must be measured not just in economic growth but also in its power to empower communities and reflect India’s cultural depth and heritage. Keynote speakers included Lt. General K.M. Seth, AVSM, PVSM (Retd.), former Governor of Tripura and Chhattisgarh, who called for a robust tourism industry with a model of collaboration to develop innovative tourism products and implement sustainable practices based on global standards. Global leaders unite to shape the future of sustainable aviation at SAF Conclave 2025

New Delhi, 22nd September 2025: The inaugural India SAF Conclave and Awards 2025 successfully convened today in New Delhi, marking a milestone in India’s journey towards sustainable aviation. The event brought together global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and industry stakeholders to shape a cleaner, more resilient future for the aviation sector through Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Organized by the SAF Association, the conclave carried the theme “Powering the Future of Sustainable Aviation” with a special focus on building a “Farm to Aviation Fuel Economy.” The event spotlighted India’s vast potential to become a global hub for SAF innovation, feedstock production, and deployment. Mr. Rohit Kumar, Secretary General of SAF Association, emphasized the need for a unified approach, stating, “SAF Association is a collective platform for catalysing and shaping India’s SAF roadmap by aligning efforts with global initiatives. SAF is important for India for several strategic, environmental, and economic reasons.” Mr. Jimmy Olsson, President of the SAF Association, highlighted the socio-economic potential of SAF in India. “SAF is a natural fit for Make in India – it combines green energy goals with economic development, technological innovation, and job creation in rural parts of India. By investing in SAF, India can lead the global shift toward sustainable aviation while strengthening its domestic industry,” he said. Mr. Shashank Chaudhary, Additional CEO of Invest UP, underlined the role of states in SAF development. “Uttar Pradesh government is projecting itself as the national hub for SAF production. We are promoting doubling the farmers’ income with our initiatives,” he stated. Dr. Anita Gupta from the Department of Science and Technology stressed the importance of talent and innovation in building the SAF ecosystem. “There is greater need to empower the sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem. There are unique opportunities that India possesses as we have a huge talent pool,” she noted. With over 750 million metric tonnes of biomass and 230 million metric tonnes of surplus agricultural residue annually, India stands uniquely positioned to meet its domestic SAF needs and emerge as a global exporter. As the world’s third-largest domestic aviation market, India’s clean fuel push aligns well with its feedstock availability, cost-effective production, and supportive policy environment. The front cover highlights three different images, first for the Union Civil Aviation Minister ….. who is leading from the front to steer Indian Civil Aviation sector to witness one of the most interesting phases. He is also facing most tumultuous timing due to the ongoing financial stress in the Aviation sector due to ATF rising cost and long airspace restrictions resulting in mounting losses for Indian carriers. Despite of all the ground level challenges,the minister is addressing new things on regular basis which keeps the sector motivated. We have featured many such developmental works in this edition done under his guidance which will be interesting to read.

Our lead story on “ The West War” is another important feature which covers the ground level reality of the challenges faced by the Aviation sector. Its though time ahead and we believe it will pass soon .
